8 Songs On Albums You Usually Skip But Are Actually Straight Fire

I don't care if they're not the most famous on their albums; they're all BOPS.

When it comes to music, most people are very set in their own preferences. I know I'm not the only one who asks for new music suggestions but hardly ever takes the time to actually listen to them because I'm still listening to the same playlist that I've had for years.

While listening to the playlist in question, I realized some of the songs I always skip are actually really great; I would never have known if I didn't bother to stop my finger from hitting the "next" button and actually listening to the music and its lyrics.

If you're still looking for music recommendations, here are a few underrated ones from well-known artists/albums.

1. "Every Night" by Imagine Dragons ("Night Visions," 2012)

Our list starts out with a song from my all-time favorite band. It's not quite one that you can dance to, but rather one you listen to on a car ride while you stare somberly out the window pretending to be in a music video. Plus, the bridge in the song kills me every time.

2. "Animal" by Ke$ha ("Animal," 2010)

Okay, this one may be a stretch since it's the titular song of the album, but Kesha with a "$" is more known for songs like "Tik Tok" and "Your Love Is My Drug." Every time I listen to this album in its entirety, I always have to stop whatever I'm doing to appreciate the chorus and the accompanying beat that makes me want to get up and dance like there's no tomorrow.

3. "I'm Lost Without You" by Blink-182 ("Blink-182," 2003)

I don't listen to this simple-yet-sweet song as much as I used to, but I've always been a fan of its background music that conveys both emotion and a sick drum solo at the end.

4. "Magical Mystery Tour" by The Beatles ("Magical Mystery Tour," 1967)

This song is a certified BOP. As soon as the first lyrics hit, I get amped up. Perhaps I'm biased because this song happened to be playing when I had a small yet brave personal accomplishment, but this song is definitely worth a listen.

5. "The Story of Tonight" from the "Hamilton" Original Broadway Cast Recording (2015)

Yes, I know this isn't exactly a song that aligns with the rest of the list due to the fact it's from a soundtrack, but it is almost a misdemeanor to skip this song. While it falls right in the middle of other songs that are more upbeat and fun to sing along/rap with, the context behind it of the then-nobodies singing about forming a new nation added with the sweet background music makes it so underrated.

6. "Invisible" by Taylor Swift ("Taylor Swift," 2006)

I'm not really a Taylor Swift fan but listening to her earlier songs (the country era) is very nostalgic for me and my middle school years. The meaning behind the lyrics closely align with much of her other work about lost love, but the chorus holds so much of the singer's emotions which I really appreciate in a song.

7. "End Up Here" by 5 Seconds of Summer ("5 Seconds of Summer," 2014)

This is another one of those get-up-and-dance songs as soon as it starts to play. It is not as famous as other songs from their first album like "She Looks So Perfect" and "Good Girls," but it still manages to encapsulate the feeling of teenage spirit.

8. "Slipping Through My Fingers" by ABBA ("The Visitors," 1981)

I know this song is in the ABBA jukebox musical "Mamma Mia!," but it is just so sad and sweet; I couldn't resist adding it. For me, it makes me look back on when I was as little as the girl described in the song and how far I've come since then just as Donna does while Sophie is getting ready to be married. BRB, going to go cry again.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
