How to prepare your feet for any condition.

8 Shoes That Won't Fail You As You Trek Across Campus
Avery Richardson

Sometimes walking across the Creighton campus is a breeze, and sometimes it's a near disaster. Either you're walking uphill or downhill, and depending on the weather and other conditions this can be an enjoyable trek or a dreaded one. Sometimes you trip on a loose brick, sometimes you slip on a wet leaf, and other times there's a foot of snow on the ground. Here are some sneaks that won't fail you as you walk across campus.

1. Chacos, Teva, or Keen

Some of you may refer to these as "ugly sandals," but as "ugly" as they may be they have an ideal comfortability and support. These are ideal for hot seasons, but can also be paired with socks for colder seasons. I honestly don't think that these are ugly... maybe it's just me, but I think they're kind of cool looking. Also, if you can hike in these... you can def walk across campus in them.

2. Converse

Converse is honestly one of my favorite shoes. They're comfortable, cool looking, and match just about anything. They do have some traction on the bottom and can keep your feet both cool and warm. Plus, when they get dirty you can just throw them in the washing machine, and set them out to dry as normal.

3. Birkenstocks

Also known as "birks." Some of you may also think these are ugly, but they are super comfy. You'll need to give them their break-in period before trekking across campus, but after that, you'll be good to go. I also think they're super cute with any outfit. However, most importantly, they hold up and last longer.

4. Adidas classic shoe

While these sneaks are super hip and in, they are also ideal for long walks. They're one of the most comfortable shoes to ever exist, in my opinion. They pair with just about anything you wear, which is great for those times you just need to throw something on. They are durable and can get you through just about any condition.

5. Adidas tennis shoes, Nike tennis shoes, or really any tennis shoes

Tennis shoes can do it all. You can workout in them, walk in them, and look stylish in them. With all the tennis shoe brands and styles, it can be a process to find that "perfect pair." Once you find the ideal tennis shoe for you, you'll be on the road to success for walking across campus.

6. Vans

Both stylish and comfy. There are so many different Vans out there that you have lots of options to find your ideal pair. All Vans have a great amount of traction, as a lot of people use them for longboarding and riding motorcycles. If you can do that in Vans, you can do anything in Vans, including walking across campus in whatever situation you may be in.

7. Sperry boots (or whatever brand boots)

I hesitated to get a pair of these, however, they are ideal for cold conditions, and I am so glad I got a pair. You may not like walking across campus sweating, but wait until you walk across campus freezing. These boots are made to keep your feet super warm and cozy, and also have an extreme amount of traction for when there is snow/rain on the ground.

8. Crocs

Crocs. Enough said. Want to wear a sandal? Crocs. Want to wear socks, too? Crocs. Crocs have grips on them to keep you from falling down, and who the heck isn't comfy in a pair of crocs!? Also, they're waterproof... so, so what if it randomly starts raining... you're prepared. Pick your favorite color and show off your fancy shoes as you make your way across campus.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
