For a campus of 36,000+ students, 'Bama is such a small world. Everyone seems to know everyone.
1. Greek Life is "Extra"
I know so many girls in so many different sororities. Greek Week, Derby Days, and Homecoming Week are basically national holidays on campus. As of right now, there are 2,000+ PNMs registered for recruitment for this upcoming school year!
2. The Classes Are Usually Pretty Big
My biology lecture had 400 people in it.
3. There Are Multiple Buildings Dedicated To The Same Subject/Class
Looking at you engineering quadrangle.
4. You Probably Have A Pretty Long Walk Ahead of You
Hope you weren't planning on rolling out of bed 2 minutes before your class starts. You'll be hella late because trying to cross University is rough at any given time of the day. Also, the busses don't care about you, and getting hit won't get your tuition paid for. Just an FYI.
5. There's Always Something Going On
Sporting events, band parties, date parties, concerts. You name it, it's probably happening at a big school.
6. There's A Lot Of Diversity
You might meet someone from across the country or from around the world. The amount of out of state students outnumbers in state students at UA in case you were wondering.
7. You Will Get Sick
I got sick so much. Maybe it was because I lived in a dorm. Maybe it's because I was constantly exposed to 36,000+ people's germs every single day. Probably both.
8. Late Night Food Choices
Anywhere I can use dining dollars instead of "real money" is a great place to go when the late night cravings kick in.
Honestly there's a lot more, but these are some of the biggest signs you go to a big college/university.
