To be a future educator means that you are a special breed. Your life is learning, collaboration, and constant clinical hours. You work over hours and make yourself completely selfless. You are constantly analyzing lessons and teaching strategies. You basically live in a classroom. However, we love it. We have a passion for children. We have a passion for education because we know it can be the greatest tool and gift a child ever receives. Here are some signs that you are a future educator.
1.You find yourself wanting to teach random people all of the time.
If you see someone struggling, especially a child or teenager you feel as though it is your duty to help them. You don't hesitate to rush to their side and to explain a concept using pedagogy and all of the research-based strategies you work with every day.
2.You have a weird passion for school supplies.
When it comes to school supplies you can't get enough. You could spend hours in the school supplies aisle and you will come up with any excuse to try and go buy some more. You are basically prepared for anything when it comes to school.
3.You have your thoughts on just about all Education Acts ad laws.
You do your research and you know what you support or do not support. You are passionate about education legislation because you know that it will not only affect you but also your students.
4.Sometimes you send more time with children than adults.
A lot of days you work with kids and when you finally get back around adults you have to switch your kid voice off and your adult voice on. You are pretty used to be completely surrounded by children and you think it is the greatest.
5.You know that amazing feeling when you finally have a breakthrough with a student.
We all can relate to that feeling when we finally find a way to explain a concept to a student that makes the light bulb go off.
6.Sometimes you forget to turn the teacher part of you off when you leave the classroom.
Sometimes you find yourself correcting your friends or practicing your classroom rules out in the real world. Turning the teacher part off is very difficult and sometimes embarrassing but hey it is what we do.
7.Everything you see can be turned into a lesson.
Oh you see snowmen at the store? Those could be used for a characterization activity in the classroom. Yous see a video? How could you incorporate that into your lesson? Basically, you start to see everything as a learning resource.
8.You cannot wait to inspire lives of young people and dedicate yourself to the betterment of the future.
You want to help those in need. You want to change lives for the better. You want to make a difference in the lives of every student you meet. You want to be the inspirational aspect that changes the path of a student forever. You want to be the reason that a student reaches their full potential.
