Let's face it, writers are weirdos for the most part, but they can be pretty cool too. Writers are the people who have words scribbled on the back of their hand and tend to always have a pen on them. Each writer has their unique habits, but there are some qualities that seem to be universal.
1. You eavesdrop
You eavesdrop on others for new material, not just to be nosy. Everyone overhears conversations from time-to-time, but you listen with a purpose. Listening to strangers is research for your next storyline, and helps you create characters.
2. Coffee is life
You drink coffee like it's water. Coffee is your go-to drink, it keeps you focused, it tastes delish, and come in oh-so-many flavors.
3. You write on anything
Napkins, receipts, flyers, newspapers--it doesn't matter. When an idea strikes your best bet is to grab something near you and write it down before you lose it forever.
4. You have a lot of notebooks and journals
In fact, a lot is an understatement. Whether or not they are filled is another questions, but you have way too many and it seems like they are all over the place.
5. You are the family editor
If someone needs to give a speech at your cousin's wedding, is sending an email, writing up highlights for a meeting or writing a college essay, who do they call? You! Your friends and family know that you are the designated word-wizard and won't dare send anything off unless it was approved by you.
6. You lose track of time when you write
You cry at the end of a movie when your favorite character dies. You can't help but get attached to fictional characters because they are so well written and true to life. You biggest crush happens to be a fictional character too.
8. You daydream too much
You find yourself staring out the window during class time or at work, thinking of different scenarios that would be better than your current experience. Wouldn't it be cool if someone burst into your class in a three-piece-suit and demanded your attention? It would make a great story, right?
