Binge watching according to dictionary.com, is "to watch (multiple videos, episodes of a TV show, etc.) in one sitting or over a short period of time."
I'm not going to lie, I love all kinds of media. This includes movies and TV shows. I geek out over both and am always checking out ones that friends recommend. Throughout college I've discovered (or rediscovered) TV shows through meeting new people with different tastes than my own. So check these out if you're bored one night and looking for something new to watch!
Breaking Bad-There’s a reason this show is #1 on the list. It is truly a masterpiece. I’m not going to lie, I had never heard of it when I came to college and after being introduced to it I was hooked. There’s so many twists and turns that’ll you won’t be able to stop. A side note: Pay attention to the soundtrack! It’s a big part of the show, even the last song which sums up the entire series.Â
The Office-This is one show that I thought was so stupid when I first tried to watch it. I just couldn’t get into it but then decided to give it a second chance and I’m so glad that I did! If you ever need a show to cheer you up or prove that true love can still exist this show is for you! The real question is which relationship is the favorite: Jim and Pam or Jim and Dwight?Â
Parks and Recreation- If you are an incredibly awkward person you will relate easily to Leslie Knope. She is in charge of the Parks and Recreation Department in Pawknee, Indiana and wants to help build a park where a giant pit is in the middle of a neighborhood. Parks and Rec follows the hilarious lives of those working in the department including Ron Swanson (check out that mustache), Tom, who is always stirring things up in the office, and their intern, April. This is an awkward comedy that will always leave you laughing at the different situations the characters find themselves in.Â
Scrubs- This show may be an older one but it is one of my favorites. JD and Turk will having you laughing so much with their awkward bromance and all the crazy shenanigans that go on in Sacred Heart Hospital. But don’t be fooled, this show will also pull at your heartstrings! Some episodes you’ll be wiping away tears from laughing and others you may be tearing up a bit. But that’s what makes this show special. It really pulls you in and you become attached to characters as if they were real.
24- I’m not going to lie but I had never even heard of this show until this past season came out and all my friends were obsessed with it so I decided to give it a try. It was such a great move on my part! For those who don’t know what the show is about, it follows Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer and every episode covers one hour of his life (24 episodes per season). This is really unique on its own, which got me interested in the first place. It’s a thriller that will always keep you guessing what will happen next and you’ll be on the edge of your seat from episode one!Â
Boy Meets World/Girl Meets World- In case you missed it, Disney Channel created a sequel to the classic show Boy Meets World this summer. This time it follows Corey and Topanga’s daughter Riley as she survives middle school! It’s a bit quirky but it holds its own. However, don’t judge the show because it is not exactly the same as Boy Meets World. It’s a great family show and brings back my own childhood memories of watching Boy Meets World! So check both out because both are great shows that teach life lessons with humor mixed in.Â
The League- If you want a hilarious, adult comedy then this is the show for you! The League is about a group of friends who have a fantasy football league together that become a little too competitive when it comes to winning the Shiva-a trophy named after a former high school classmate. The show covers all their antics and backstabbing to get hold of the grand prize along with some great guest stars including Josh Cribbs, Chad Johnson (Ochocinco), Deion Sanders, Antonio Gates and many more.Â
Friends- Do I even need to explain this one?? Those of us who are growing up and getting closer to living on our own will really love this show. Above all it really shows the true meaning of friendship and how important it is. You start to really relate to the characters and can’t seem to let them go. There’s a reason this show went on for ten years and is still being shown today. It’s one of those shows that will live forever no matter how many years go by.
