After a shocking and frightening election result, it can be hard to remember that there is still good in the world. As Obama said, "The sun will rise in the morning." Here are a few things that prove that truly, love trumps hate.

1. This video of a little girl inspiring us all to be better people.

She's unafraid to speak her mind, regardless of her age, gender, and race, and inspiration to us all.

2. People wrote love notes to America at a subway station.

A reminder that not everyone in the world is so bad.

3. A gay man proposed to his boyfriend after Election Day.

4. Hillary Clinton's speech that reminds us that all hope is not lost.

Even though she may not be the first female president, we'll make well sure that there will be a female president soon.

5. This pug that proudly declares his love for "bones over bigots."

"Pugs Against Trump" seriously needs to become a movement asap. Love and cute pugs, what more do you need?

6. Children wrote sweet messages to Hillary Clinton in chalk outside of her headquarters.

The messages include everything from simple, heartfelt thanks, to restatements of her campaign slogan.

7. This community got together to get rid of the racist vandalism on one family's property.

After the Phillips' family property was covered in racist, hateful, and obscene language, the community got together to help them out and show solidarity with them.

8. After a young Muslim girl was scared by Trump's Islamophobia, these vets reminded her that they would protect her.

Using the hashtag #IWillProtectYou, army vets pledged that they would not let their citizens feel unsafe.

No matter how terrible it seems to get, there are always people in the world who are actively trying to make it a better, safer, and more accepting place. If you can't find a helper, be one. And remember, that we are always stronger together.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
