Having an 8 AM class is tough. Nobody likes waking up early simply to sit in a lecture hall for hours. However, it isn't always a bad thing to take this early morning class. In fact, there are lots of reasons to take that 8 AM class, even if you're going to be tired.
1. Parking is great.
Since you're one of a handful of crazy people getting up taking a super early class, you don't need to worry about finding parking. You can show up 5 minutes before class and get the best parking spot on campus.
2. You're finished early.
While everyone else is taking classes later on in the day, you're off enjoying the day. You can go out in the afternoon and do stuff! This also leaves you extra time for homework!
3. Coffee.
I find I get weird looks buying coffee for my 3 PM class, but it's totally expected to be buying coffee at 7:30 AM. Also, there are way more coffee places open at this time, so your options for coffee are unlimited.
4. Everyone's in a good mood.
I've noticed everyone seems happier in my morning classes as opposed to my night ones. I think this is because the world hasn't had a chance to rain on anybody's parade yet. It's the first thing going on in the day; not a lot of bad has had the chance to happen yet.
5. You get more out of your day.
You're awake for more hours of the day so you do more. You'll also feel way more productive! I get far more done in a day when I have my 8 AM class then on the weekends when I can sleep until noon.
6. Focus.
You're more focused early in the morning. In my 8 AM class, I'm paying attention and actually taking notes. In my night class, I'm scrolling through Instagram and not actually listening to my teacher's lectures.
7. There is always room.
Registering for classes is hectic. However, there always seems to be room in morning classes. Even if there isn't and you find yourself on the waitlist, you'll probably get into the class since most kids drop their morning classes anyways. Also, odds are you'll actually get to take the class with the professor you want.
8. They prepare you for the real world.
Most jobs in the real world start around 8 or 9 AM, so taking these early classes will help you better transition into the workforce.
