The ukulele has been putting smiles on people's faces since the 1800's, and is debatably the cutest instrument ever. Aside from the fact that its cheap, adorable, and full of character; here are 8 reasons why you should start learning the uke ASAP.

1. It's so easy its almost sad.

If you're like me, and are severely lacking in the 'musically gifted' department, the ukulele is perfect for you. I learned my first song in a single night. Plus it sounds pretty impressive.

2. It's so portable.

I take my ukulele just about anywhere. Considering its about the length of my arm, and weighs probably 2 whole pounds, you can bring it with you, and impress your friends wherever you go.

3. You can feel like a Hawaiian queen (or king).

Not that you weren't already a queen before.

4. It's therapeutic.

When I began learning, I happened to be going through a breakup, and nothing helped more. Whether you're heartbroken, sick, or just feeling down, the uke can definitely do a great job of helping you keep your mind off things.

5. George Harrison said so.

How do you argue with a member of the Beatles?

6. Look at all the colors.

Ukuleles come in so many shapes, sizes, colors, and patterns, picking one is almost the best part. Anything from bright lime to matte black, or even floral, there are so many to choose from!

7. Who doesn't want to be a uke master?

I mean seriously! What looks cooler than jamming out on a ukulele? Nothing. You'll probably become everyone's favorite friend.

8. Just do it.

Enough said.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
