8 Reasons Why Your Mom Is The Best

Where would you be without her?

8 Reasons Why Your Mom Is The Best
Meaghan Creedon

I consider myself very lucky to have a mom who is more than just a mom. Nobody knows me better than she does and she understands me better than anyone I know. She is the person that I can always count on to have my back, to cheer me up when I'm down; and for that, I will forever be grateful for the special things we share together.

1. You always have a shopping buddy.

One of the best ways to pass time is through shopping. But who likes doing that alone? Whether or not we buy something, we almost always find ourselves shopping around stores, trying on shoes, and picking out new outfits.

2. You can tell her anything.

Your mom understands everything. There is no secret that you feel that you have to keep from her because you trust her with anything. Since she is one of the most forgiving people you know, you never have to worry about her holding a grudge against anything that you tell her. She will always listen to anything that you have to say without question.

3. There isn't a day that goes by without talking to her.

A good morning text. A text to check up on you throughout the day. And a phone call the second she is leaving work. You anticipate actually getting to talk to your mom and just fill each other in on the events of your day.

4. She gives the best advice.

Not sure how to get through your horrible day? You call her. Feeling a little under the weather and not sure what to do? You call her. Moms always have your best interest at heart and no matter what, they always say the right thing when you need it the most.

5. You share each other's clothes.

Not only do you always have a shopping buddy, but you basically have a second closet just across the hall. Your clothes become her clothes, and her clothes become yours. You love it when she buys herself a new sweater because you know she really bought it with your fashion sense in mind as well :)

6. She always knows how to make you laugh.

From the inside jokes that you share to her funny personality, there is never a time when you and your mom aren't laughing when you are together. You enjoy spending

7. You have the same favorite movies and shows.

Nothing beats coming home after a long couple of weeks at school and getting to sit down with your mom and just relax. You turn on an episode (or two or three of four) of "Friends," make a cup of tea, and enjoy each other's company...and your favorite show, of course!

8. You constantly miss her.

Even though you talk to her several times throughout the day, it's not the same as actually being with her. You miss her funny personality, her clothes, sipping tea together, and just her company. You know you are lucky to have her, which is why you cherish being with her so much.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
