As my favorite time of year comes to a close, it is sad to see this tournament end. I always feel like a part of me is missing when I am no longer able to cheer for my bracket. Whether your bracket busts on the first day of games or you are leading your group, you are definitely involved in this tournament more than any other.
1. Bracket Mania
Roughly 70 million brackets are filled out each year for March Madness. Yet no one ever seems to get it perfect. That's the craziness and unpredictability of the games – gotta love it!
2. College students are the best fans out there
They will go all out more than any other fans. Their whole body will be painted in their color while chanting their fight song and screaming throughout the whole game. Hey, they may even drive 2 states away to watch their team play.
3. Every year there are buzzer beater games
This year huge shoutout to Jordan Poole, Michigan freshman, who hit that last second 3 to send my Wolverines to the sweet 16. We love you Jordan. Anyways, there were other last-second score changes that make these games so entertaining.
4. College players are trying to get drafted
This is the time these athletes are showing off their best potential and ability. They know everyone is watching them and they have to prove to the big leagues just how good they really are.
5. Every game seems to be close
You can write off any games until the end. You just never know with this tourney. Down by 20 with time left is not game over anymore.
6. The rivalries are usually set up
The bracket is made perfectly. Duke was set up to have to play Michigan St. again, but luckily the Spartans took care of that problem on their own and last before the sweet 16– Go Blue! The brackets put 68 teams in an order that makes all of these games worth watching.
7. For the past 7 years, there has been a number 7 seed or higher in the Elite Eight
For the people who don't know what that means: the higher seeds are the underdogs and they are making it from 68 teams down to 8 every year by upsetting their opponents in match ups.
8. Upsets and Bets galore
There are 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 possible brackets. So you can say no one is going to predict all the upsets to come but people sure are going to bet that they know who is going to win it all.
I’m sad to see this tournament go! See ya next year March Madness.
