I moved to a new town the summer before freshman year of high school and while I was in high school I was lucky enough to meet my three best friends. Together we’ve been through it all and although it's only been about five years, I love each and every one of them to death and I know we have a friendship that will last forever. So, hometown best friends -- this one is for you guys.
1. You’ve known me (and put up) with me for the longest.
You’ve known me since I was a tiny, confused, and brace face freshman in high school. You were there when I thought it was a good idea to go blond even though I looked worse than Britney when she shaved her head. No one else in this world has the privilege of saying that and I’m thankful you guys stuck around after seeing me at my worst.
2. You understand me better than anyone does or ever will.
You know every mood, emotion, preference of mine, and you never need to ask me what's wrong because you all just know. You all understand why I need Frank’s Red Hot for my mac and cheese (learned that from you guys) and Cholula for my Qudoba. You understand that if I’m having a bad day, all I need is to get in the car and sing Me, Myself, and I at the top of my lungs with you guys.
3. You always give me the best advice.
Whether I'm making some of the hardest decisions of my life or worrying about a boy, you guys always know the right thing to say. From compassionate advice to tough love I know you guys always have my best interest in mind and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to give it to me other than you guys.
4. You never judge me.
When I’m drunk, hungry, and feel like eating a full rotisserie chicken or two easy macs and half of a pizza, you’re right next to me cheering me on -- and making me your Snapchat story. But, nevertheless thank you for not looking at me any differently than you did before after I've eaten for a small family of four the next morning.
5. We’ve been through it all together.
We’ve been through some of the best and worst times together. From bad boyfriends, family issues, and one of us always being in some sort of trouble to getting our licenses, being accepted to college, and graduating high school -- we have never left each other's sides and I would not have wanted to survive it with anyone else.
6. We are apart of each other’s families.
We have reached that point in our friendship long ago where walking into your house without knocking is nothing out of the ordinary. From attending Greek Easter, crazy Saint Patrick’s Day parties or just eating breakfast while we catch your mom up on the latest gossip -- I have felt like a part of your family. Thank you for making my small family feel just a bit bigger and giving lots of love.
7. We have the best memories.
We have had some of the craziest moments. Whether it's girl's night in my basement, what happened at Seaside after prom, or our adventures at Governors Ball music festival, we’ve had some memorable moments. These stories are ones that we will talk about for years to come and continue to make endless jokes about. Thank you for always being down to do stupid stuff with me and making these memories.
8. We always pick up right where we left off.
Being our separate ways and living different lives is different from what we're used to, but no matter how long we’ve been apart when we are together it is like we never left. I am so thankful that I have the kind of friendship with you all that distance does not affect anything.
