8 Reasons Why I Can't WAIT To Graduate College

Normally I'm that friend in the friend group who says "Oh, you shouldn't want to waste your time on this earth wishing you had graduated already!"

Yeah, not today.
After all of the BS papers, roommate drama and missing pans, Insomnia Cookies closing just as you finally find a parking space, and waiting 20 minutes just for a chicken sandwich from Chik-Fil-A on campus, part of me is just so ready to be done! And it is that part of me that I am going to expound on. Here are my eight reasons for why I am ready to graduate:

1. You won't have to deal with signing up for classes.

Congratulations, you no longer have to write lengthy emails to that professor who hates you explaining why you NEED to take this class to GRADUATE ON TIME. You don't have to wake up at 6 AM and pray the internet is working so you don't get beat to the best class time for next semester. And you DON'T have to go to any more academic advising meetings!

2. You don't have to abide by a certain set of rules.

When I say that, I say that rather objectively. For example, I'm a film student, and I have certain guidelines I have to follow for each project. One film might have to be a drama, one might have to only use one kind of prime lens... you get the idea.

Now.... I make my OWN rules!

3. No more paying obscene amounts of money for parking permits far away from buildings you need to get to.

No more early morning walks 30 minutes across campus to get to your 8 AM on time!!

4. You're gonna feel a little less like a child.

Mini-rant warning.

As much as people say they treat everyone equally, I've come across a lot of situations where I was downright disrespected because I am a student: it's like because I am still in school, people feel they can assume I don't have any common sense. That's not how college works!!!

5. No more 8 AM classes.

Well... let's just live in the fantasy that we won't have to work a 9-5 next... and enjoy a little bit of sleeping in.

6. A REAL apartment.

Don't get me wrong: living in a place that has a party going on somewhere all the time is pretty sweet. But there are definitely days (let's say, Monday through Wednesday) where I know I would prefer if my neighbors weren't so turnt... all of the time.

7. Getting a job so you can afford things.

^Need I say more? Now I'll be able to afford a nice a** car!

8. The feeling of accomplishing something.

I loved graduation day in high school Getting my diploma made me feel like I had some physical to show off everything I had learned. I have no doubt that it will be the same thing for college, too.
The feeling of accomplishing something makes you feel like you can do anything.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
