8 Reasons To Thank Your Best Guy Friend Right Now
Ashleigh Poteete

Hubert H. Humphery wrote "The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it", and I could not agree with him more. Friendship is by far one of the greatest gifts on this planet, and thankfully, I have two of the best friends on the planet. One of these friends, just so happens to be a guy, I know…scandalous, and I just want to say right now...we. are. not. dating. Not now, not ever. We are just friends. Period.

Oddly enough, this friendship did not start off as a typical friendship, but it quickly became a friendship that I treasure more than coffee in the morning. This friendship is one of the greatest within my life and I am proud to call him my BFFL. I know that no matter what trials I face, he is there to help me along, without judgment or reservations.

So, here are eight reasons why if you have a guy best friend as well, you should thank him.

1. Thank you for being the best "wing man".

Thank you for going with me to the mall when I need to look for shoes because I did not want to go alone (even though that sounded like the dumbest thing you could be doing that day). Thank you for then paying for my dinner, and allowing me to pay you back because I left my card at home. Thank you for stopping me from talking to that one weird guy because I was "way out of his league" and "he was not worth my time".

2. Thank you for being the best listener, even when I am acting crazy.

I am a crazy person, and I will admit to that. Thank you for listening to me when I am in a manic moment and I do not want to listen to even the most logical statements that people near me are trying to say.

3. Thank you for being the best advice giver.

Thank you for knowing exactly what to say when my world is falling apart. Thank you for not letting wallow in self pity because society is dumb.

4. Thank you for being the best voice of reason when I am not thinking rationally.

Thank you for reminding me of my worth when I am at my low. Thank you for picking me back up when school seems like it will swallow me whole.

5. Thank you for being the best at making me laugh.

Sometimes, you can irritate me beyond belief, but it is in those moments that you are making me mad that you make me laugh..and you know that. Thank you for that. Thank you for knowing exactly what to say to get me out of my head and making me laugh until I almost pee my pants.

6. Thank you for being the best at avoiding judgement.

Seriously, I am crazy, so this is just perfect in itself. You rock.

7. Thank you for being the best at sharing your struggles with me.

While we are all human and have flaws, you are open and honest about your struggles and who you are as a person. You do not hide that from me, and I appreciate that. Who you are as a person is crazy awesome, and it is because of that person you are that I am proud to call you my best friend.

8. Thank you for being the best person you can be, with a heart of gold.

When life gets you down, you stand back up and you fight. You never deny who you are, but instead, embrace your attitude with open arms. You stand firm to who you are and accept everyone for who they are. While others may think you are sarcastic, I know that is your way of communication. You make those people close to you feel safe and loved. You are by far one of the greatest friends I have ever had, and I am forever thankful to God for allowing me to have this friendship. I know whatever happens in this life, our friendship will always be one that I treasure and hold near.

Thank you for everything Bffl.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?
