8 Reasons To Thank Netflix

Netflix has grown over the past few years and with its success, the digital media company will only expand. The reason Netflix is so successful is because it has a variety of genres for everyone. From documentaries to comedies to drams--you name it, they have it. At only about $9 a month, Netflix has been a good deal for a very long time. Netflix is the king of digital media, and here are some reasons to thank them:

1. Selection.

Netflix is way ahead of Hulu and Amazon Prime when it comes to the variety of their original content. Netflix has TV shows and movies for whatever mood you happen to be in, and it can sometimes seem daunting choosing what to watch.

2. You become an athlete.

No, not an actual athlete--but you do marathons if you know what I mean.

3. Because it gives you an excuse not to go outside.

If you are like me, you would rather stay home and binge-watch your favorite show instead of going out and doing pointless things. Netflix is the perfect way out of doing anything.

4. Netflix will never leave you.

Friends leave. Parents leave. Boyfriends and girlfriends leave. Do you see a trend? Well, good news--Netflix will always be there for you. Whether it's 2 a.m. or 2 p.m. you have the option of enjoying a nice movie. Even though Netflix will make you cry (in a good way) when you watch The Boy in the Striped Pajamas or Prison Break, face it--sometimes you need a good cry.

5. Netflix doesn't judge you.

Go ahead and watch Grease thirty-seven times, and watch an entire season of Grey's Anatomy in one night. Who cares? Not Netflix.

6. Netflix lets you have endless crushes.

Jealously is never an issue with Netflix which is really important because I need to tell people about McDreamy, Chuck Bass, and Wentworth Miller without Netflix getting envious.

7. Netflix will always be there for you.

Having a rough day at work? Did your boyfriend/girlfriend cheat on you? Nothing a night of watching Family Guy can't fix. So grab your glass of wine, or beer, get some snacks, cuddle up in bed and turn on Netflix.

8. Netflix loves you, no matter what.

Netflix is very patient even when you spend an hour trying to pick the perfect show to watch. And the best part, Netflix checks up on you when you watch a show for too long--it's strictly out of love.

So, thank you Netflix. Thank you for letting me get out my frustrations with life and being there for me at any time of the day. Thank you for never leaving me when you know I should be doing something productive.

Thank you for being you--a safe haven for me.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
