Recently I had the opportunity to see the Golden Globe nominated movie, The Greatest Showman. And WOW. Did that movie exceed all my expectations. If you haven't seen it yet, here are a few reasons why you should DEFINITELY GO.
1. The history of Barnum and Bailey's circus
If you haven't been to the circus, i highly question your childhood. However, if you have, the movie depicts the history and how it became to be one of the most successful traveling shows to ever exist.
2. Zac Efron
Ladies, that's enough reason in itself to go. He is as usual is stellar in his role as Phillip Carlyle.
3. This is Me
This song is probably my new anthem. "I'm not afraid to be seen, I make no apologies. I make no apologies". It's an empowering song for all those who don't fit into what society thinks that they have to be. It's a confident booster as well. Trust me you'll be jamming out to this one.
4. The Soundtrack
Besides, This is Me, the soundtrack is absolute fire. I downloaded it as soon as I got home. You'll be rocking out to it in the car, in the shower, in front of the mirror, etc. in no time.
5. It's a movie for the whole family.
While there are a few more mature parts, anyone can learn a lesson from it. And even if musicals aren't your thing, the music just makes the movie better and I think you'll still enjoy it.
6. It encourages people that they can be anything they want to be.
P.T. Barnum, started as a tailor boy and created an empire. It goes to show that you could come from nothing and become something with hard work and determination.
7. The Zac Efron and Zendaya Story line
It's sad that people of opposite colors still have problems dating because people look down on it. This problems dates all the way back to the beginning of Barnum and Bailey and not much has changed. This story line will rip your heart and will put it back together when they finally share a kiss.
8. It's a great feel good movie.
You'll leave the movie in high spirits and wanting to take on the world. With all the brokeness in the world today, this movie is one I highly recommend seeing.
GO SEE IT!
