8 Reasons That Chinchillas Are The Best Pet

Chinchillas are the best pet you can have! These Peruvian rodents are far from your standard rodent. Chinchillas are lovable pets that are not like a traditional pet like a cat or dog. Although they are nocturnal, they will adapt to your lifestyle. Chinchillas are endangered in the wild, but they are surviving by being pets. Native to the Andes Mountains, they live in herds so it is best to have more than one. That way, there are more to love! Here is why you should make the decision and get a fluffy, lovable chinchilla.

1. Dust Baths

Chinchilla fur is very dense, and because of this, they cannot get wet. Chinchillas bathe in a special type of dust to keep clean. It is always fun to watch these fluff balls roll around! If they do get wet, a hairdryer will help. The setting must be on low and on cool.

2. The Fur

They are soft and fluffy because of their dense fur. They cannot get fleas because their fur is so dense. The insects would suffocate . No worries for any unwelcome pests in your house!

3. They Love Food

A chinchilla's favorite treat are raisins, and it is fun to watch them eat. But don't give them too many! You do not want an unhealthy chinchilla! Some vets do not accept "exotic" pets.

4. They Are Adorable Critters

Baby Chinchillas are new to the world, and need some love too! How can you look at these and not love them! They are curious, tiny fur balls.

5. They Will Be Too Cute

Nobody can possibly hate these creatures. Sometimes they can be ornery, but any animal can be. They need to be supervised when they are outside of their cage, but they can not be imprisoned all the time.

6. They Normally Stay Healthy

They do not get ill with usual diseases. The only issue is if they are taken out of their comfort zones temperature wise. If they get too hot, they will die. It is the same if it is too cold. They need to stay at a constant temperature.

7. They Will Rule the World

Their cuteness distracts you from their evilness! Chinchillas can bite, but they are to be treated like a normal scrape. They can't get you sick so you will be okay!

8. They Will Get Along With Other Pets

Unless you have a predator of the chinchilla, such as a cat, they will be fine with other animals. Always watch out for your pets when you introduce them.

If you are looking for a new pet, get a chinchilla! They are worth all of the time and love. The chinchilla will love you for the next 14 years of their life. You will not regret the decision, nor will the chinchilla be disappointing being in your house. Keep in mind, only get a pet if you have the time and energy to have one.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
