Most people have just wrapped up midterms and although it was a stressful couple of weeks, guess what? You’re finally done!

So stop stressing about getting your grades back and enjoy the many things you can now do with your free time, that is until finals roll around.

1. Midterms are Over

Enough said.

2. You Don’t Have to Feel Guilty About Watching Netflix

As much as you said the two weeks leading up to your midterm you weren’t going to waste anytime watching Netflix, we all know you did. Binge-watching is just an addiction you can’t quit, but at least now you don’t have to feel guilty about it.

3. Thanksgiving is Coming!

Not only does this mean you get to go home, pig out on a home cooked meal, and see your family, but you also get two to five days off of classes. This is a well-needed break, so take the time to rest and enjoy some fall festivities.

4. You’re Almost Done

It’s officially November! About one month of classes left and then you’re done. Sure you have to deal with a pesky final, but that’s future you’s problem. For now, hold on to the hope that in about a month you’ll be on holiday break, enjoying life, and that means Christmas is just around the corner!

5. You Can Work Out

It may have been nice having an excuse not to work out: “I can’t, I’m too busy studying.” Let’s be real though, you need to hit the gym. You no longer have to stay glued to a seat and studying for 9 hours straight. Now you have time to work out so do it so you can stay healthy and happy.

6. You Have Time For Friends

Grabbing a bite to eat with your friends after class is once again a possibility. No more need to rush to the library and get a good study spot. Just relax and enjoy lunch with your besties.

7. You Have Time to Get Your Life Together

Do a load of laundry, or clean your dorm room, or research job opportunities, or meet with your advisor to figure out your next step in school. All the things that are in the back of your head and stressing you out without you even realizing it was not important enough to deal with when you had 5 exams on your mind, but now you can get them done. There’s something super blissful about being productive in aspects outside of class. Go get your life together while you have the time. Or go sleep; sleep is productive too.

8. You’re Amazing

You made it through half a semester and trust me it’s not as easy as it sounds, so give yourself some praise. You could’ve dropped out or given up, but you worked hard and finished all your exams; regardless of the outcome, be proud of what you accomplished. Treat yourself to a new shirt, some nice shoes, or a special meal. You deserve all the things.

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
