Younger siblings would be lost without them

8 Reasons Why Older Sisters Are The Best

1. They give the best advice

Older sisters have had an endless amount of experience compared to you, so when all else fails, they know the right answer. They are the best person to go to and will have the most unbiased opinion compared to your friends or parents. They won't judge you no matter what.

2. They help minimize your awkward phases

They've been through it already, so they get it. They’ve had the cringy school pictures and bad fashion fails. Older sisters always try to help out by keeping you with the good popular trends… but kids and teens are stubborn: You can only stop so much.

3. Hand Me Down Heaven

I loved when my mom bought my sister clothes because her closet was basically going to become mine the next coming year. Her closet was practically a shopping mall. It was great having cute clothes that no one else had and feeling like you just went shopping without spending all the money.

4. You both work as secret spies when it comes to your parents

There are times when you don't know how your parents will react to certain things. From this to hinting at birthday gifts for each other, you know how to weasel your way into helping your sister out and the other will pay it back.

5. They can teach you about relationships

When you have an older sister, they go through everything before you, basically making them the guinea pig so you don't make the same mistakes. They tell you who you should stay away from and if you should keep your crush or drop ‘em.

6. You can spill all your secrets to them

You don't have to worry about your sister spilling the beans when she doesn't hang out with your friends or anyone your age. She keeps everything in the vault and makes sure that they are there for you when you need to let it out.

7. They give you perspective

Sometimes you need a fresh opinion of what to do or just someone to take you down a notch. Your older sister is sane enough to help you take a step back and look at the big picture. You guys are close enough that she can tell you that you're acting crazy and need to take a chill-pill.

8. No matter what they will always be there for you

Your older sister’s job is to look out for you and make sure you don't make the same mistakes they did. They are the best listeners and no one else could solve your problems better. Between the silly fights, hilarious Snapchats, and great inside jokes, older sisters are irreplaceable and make life a whole lot better. Honestly, I can’t count the number of times I would epically fail without my sister, and I’m so grateful to have her as my best friend.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student.
