Alaska seems to be a little bit underrated and under populated. Let me give you a few reasons to move to the best state there is.
1. The Scenery: Alaska is home to some of the most amazing places. Whether you are in a city or the wilderness, I promise the views will never cease to amaze you. From the snow covered mountains and trees in the winter to the colorful wild flowers that fill the valleys in the summer, Alaska has the best scenery hands down.
2. The Northern Lights: Alaska is known for its Aurora Borealis that lights up the dark night sky during the winter months. The colors range from shades of green in the southern regions of the state, to a magnificent array of red, blue, purple and pink the further north you go.
3. The Mountains: While mountains are not exclusive to the state, there is something extraordinary about the vastness of the mountains here. Of the 20 largest mountains in the United States, Alaska is home to 17 of them, including the biggest mountain in North America, Denali (pictured below).
4.Wild Life: Alaska is home to an abundance of wildlife that can be spotted during any time of the year. It is not uncommon to see bears, caribou and dall sheep during a summers drive out of town, or even walking outside to find a moose in your backyard.
5. Fishing: Alaska is the perfect place for any fishing fanatic. From the still ponds, to swift rivers and boisterous seas, Alaska has it all. On a hot summer day, you can catch anything, from a small trout, to a 70 pound king salmon. The possibilities are endless.
6. Daylight: In the summer months, Alaska is known as the land of the midnight sun. Depending on where you are in the state, there can be anywhere from 18 to 24 hours of sunshine, creating endless opportunities for outdoor activities. If you are lucky enough to catch the sunset, you will be truly amazed.
7. Adventure: Alaska is made for those who are adventurous at heart. There will always be numerous adventures to go on during any month of the year. In summer, Alaska attracts all sorts of hikers, rock climbers and kayakers to explore what the state has to offer. Not to mention those winter lovers out there, who travel from all over the world to heli-ski in Alaska's diverse mountains ranges.
8. PFD: As if all of this is not enough, every year the state provides a Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) to all of its residents. Every October, residents finds themselves given a nice chunk of change; last year it was just over two thousand dollars.
