8 Reasons To Love Winter

Winter is finally here! Many people prefer the warmth of summer or the colors of fall but there is something magical about winter. The snow falls to the ground, blanketing the world and giving it a beautiful new look. It's the season of being cozy and warm and being with those that you love. There are so many wonderful things about winter. Here are just a few reasons to love the season.

1. Sweaters and scarves

Being warm and comfy is essential during the winter months which is why sweaters and scarves are the go-to fashion choices. All day, every day you can look cute while being ridiculously comfortable. Winter gives us an excuse (as if we needed one) to buy more sweaters and scarves because honestly you can never have too many.

2. Hot Chocolate

A nice warm cup of hot chocolate with the right number of marshmallows can turn any miserable cold day into a wonderful winter day. Curling up by the fireplace with a blanket, a good book, and a cup of hot chocolate is the perfect ending to a winter day.

3. Fireplaces

Winter is amazing because you get to spend as much time as humanly possible cuddled up by the fireplace. There is absolutely nothing better than warming yourself by the fire on a cold, winter evening. Get as close to that fireplace as you want (I won't judge). Just make sure that the wood is the only thing that gets lit on fire.

4. You can finally watch a sunrise

Let's face, it unless you worked the night shift, had to be at work really early, or were one of those morning workout people you probably didn't get a chance to watch a sunrise. Short winter days give you the perfect opportunity to see all the beautiful colors painted across the sky in the morning.

5. Lazy days

If you're like me, there is NOTHING better than just lounging around all day and doing absolutely nothing. Winter is the perfect season for us. The cold weather gives us an excuse to stay in all day and read a book, play games, or have a movie marathon. Netflix was practically made for winter.

6. Christmas

Beautiful decorations. Twinkly lights. Amazing food. Fabulous music. Spending time with your family and friends. Christmas is a magical holiday. The snow and the lights make the nights absolutely breathtaking. Christmas is the time of year when people are generally nicer to one another. For a brief moment, the world doesn't seem like such a horrible place. There's nothing better than getting in the holiday spirit and experiencing the joy of Christmas.

7. A new year, a new start

New Years is a great time to make resolutions and get a fresh start. Even though we usually fail at keeping our resolutions, it's great to think about the changes we want to make and try to follow through with them. Who knows maybe this year you'll actually keep one of them. It's a time to make lifestyle changes, set new goals, and start new adventures. You can let go of the past as you ring in the new year. Make this year your year!

8. Snow!

I smell snow! (Seriously, you totally can). Perhaps the best part about winter is snow. I'm talking about real snow not the slushy gross stuff that's kind of melted. Sledding, snowball fights, and making the perfect snowman are a few of the many things to do in the snow. Plus it's so pretty to look at. Beautiful snowflakes falling gracefully to the ground making the world look absolutely breathtaking.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
