Thanksgiving break is the best.

8 Reasons Why I Love Going Home For Break
Odyssey

As I went home for my last Thanksgiving break ever, I was thinking about all of the reasons why I'm thankful this year. Instead of listing every single one (because the list would be infinite) I decided to share some of my favorites.

1. The most obvious: no classes!

For a few days, I get to go home and relax in my bed. Three naps a day? Don't mind if I do. Now that it's cold outside, I've also broken out the heated blanket. Perfect.

2. Complete access to my sister's wardrobe.

At college, I get kind of tired of my clothes since I rotate the same 5 outfits on a weekly basis. My little sister is the more fashionable sibling... oh, and I get full access to her makeup collection too! Life is good.

3. Dogs.

When I'm home, I get cuddles 24/7! I miss my little puppies so much while I'm away.

4. Mom cooks for me.

My mom is an insanely good cook, and to be honest, anything is better than cafeteria food.

5. High school reunion time.

Over Thanksgiving break, practically all of your friends are home at once and it's a great time to catch up!

6. Naps, naps, and... more naps.

I know I already mentioned this, but seriously. Naps are the best.

7. Two words: Woodfield Mall.

RIP to my wallet. Happy Black Friday!

8. Friendly faces at every turn.

When I go home to Crystal Lake, there are mandatory stops I must make while I'm here. I love being able to know exactly where I'm going! Everyone is always so welcoming and excited when I come home, it's the best.

No matter what, I'm always excited to come home for break. Use this as a reminder to take some time out of your busy schedule to remember all of the reasons why you love being home, too!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
