8 Reasons To Love Halloween

Halloween is a much loved holiday by people of all ages. Children and adults alike dress up in costumes ranging from cute little princesses to spooky goblins and ghouls. It's a time of candy and fun. This holiday isn't just about the costumes and candy, there is an underlying level of creepiness that gives us all a thrill.

1.) Costumes:

Oldies but Goodies

For one night we can dress up as whoever or whatever we want to be. You can fulfill your fantasies of being a witch or wizard, a goblin or a fairy. Costumes allow us to channel our inner nerds. They allow us to dress up as the creatures who scare us. Halloween is a time to express whatever you want to be.

2.) Free Candy:

Candy Galore!

Children, teenagers, and adults have an equal fondness of candy. Who doesn't love being given something that's free? There's tons of candy on Halloween night, and children learn whose house has the best candy, and who gives out raisins.

3.) Trick-or-Treating:

"...Give Me Something Good to Eat"

Gathering with friends or family in a pursuit to collect an abundance of sugary goods is always a blast. On Halloween you can see a witch, a zombie, Superman, and a cat walking down the street side by side. Halloween brings us together to ask for free candy from our neighbors.

4.) Carving Pumpkins:

Carved to Perfection

When it comes to pumpkin carving some people like to go to the extremes, others go with a classic jack-o-lantern look. The glowing faces are the most common form of decorating for the holiday and it also allows us to be creative.

5.) Decorations:

Spooky Scary Skeletons

During this holiday, people cover their homes in the classic pumpkins, skeletons, gravestones, and ghosts. The more spooky your decorations, the better.

6.) Gorey Make-Up:

Many Faces of Halloween

What other day of the year can you plaster your face in liquid latex and blood? Halloween allows us to be creative and creepy at the same time. This is the rare opportunity for people to test their skills at monster make up and try out techniques they see on Face-Off.

7.) Classic Halloween Movies:

Everyone Has Their Favorites

For the people who prefer to stay indoors, watching Halloween movies is a perfect way to celebrate the holiday. Whether you like horror films or goofy classics there is a plethora of movies out there for your cinematic entertainment.

8.) Haunted Houses:

BOO!

Haunted Houses, a Halloween tradition that is loved by most ages. The variety of scare ranges from school funded events to actual haunted places. Whether they are fundraisers or just for fun they always ensure a good time.

It is a time to have fun and scariness, be safe and enjoy this years Halloween.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
