Ever since Julie Rice and Elizabeth Cutler made spinning a stylish activity instead of a boring way to exercise by opening Soul Cycle in 2006, spinning has become the new and cool way to get a workout.
And while my introduction to it may or may not have been after seeing how awesome Jennifer Aniston looked in “Just Go with it,” I'm so happy I started.
1. The people
I’ve been told by people that go to other gyms that the staff aren’t always the nicest, but I am actually best friends with everyone that works and my gym and they are all so nice and it makes the experience so much more amazing.
2. The clothes
“Ride now, wine later” “You can't spin with us” Do I need to say much more?
3. It's cheap
We have all had that feeling of disappointment when we pay for a month long gym membership and go twice. Luckily with spinning you pay per class so you don't waste any money on unused time!
4. You can do it anywhere
While personal trainers are great, they are a bit hard to bring on vacation with you. Since spin gyms have gotten so big, they have them everywhere. I was just on vacation in Charleston and went to a gym there and even picked up some new tricks!
5. Free shoes
We all know the struggles of going from store to store trying to find the right pair of shoes to go to the gym in that look cute, don't ruin our feet, and give us the right support. Luckily at spin gyms they let you borrow shoes for free - and they even click into the bike to make it easier!
6. It's fun
Dancing around on your bike singing along to the lyrics to songs like “Hey Baby” seems more like a dance party than a workout class.
7. It's a good workout
If you are really working yourself, you can burn between 500-700 calories in 45 minutes! (Enough calories to burn off an 8 piece Chic-Fil-A nugget meal plus fries!)
8. The feeling after
It is a common known fact that when you are working out your body produces endorphins, and endorphins make you happy. The feeling of being so refreshed and like you can do anything is hard to beat. And nine times out of ten when I finish a spin class I secretly say to myself, “I could do another class right now.”
