When I tell people that I'm from Cleveland, I get quite the variety of reactions. After the initial "You're from Ohio?" (yes I can't believe it either), there's either some comment about how either the bad economy (it's getting better okay), or some sports comment. Regardless, the general reaction is disgust. But I don't care what people think. I love Cleveland and will always be proud to be from it.
1. The Cavs
....I think it's safe to say this one speaks for itself.
2. Also The Indians
It's just a really good time to be a Cleveland native right now.
3. Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Just a short drive from the city is the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park. People come from all over to see its beauty and hike it. Can't beat that, can you.
4. Cedar Point
A couple miles down I-90 sits one of the best amusement parks in the country, Cedar Point. People generally tend to stop making fun of me when I remind them that Cedar Point is only an hour away from me.
5. Lake Erie
We also have some pretty great views of Lake Erie, as well as lots of parks on the lake. I love being able to drive up to the lake and feel like I'm worlds away when I'm only minutes away.
6. Metroparks
The greater Cleveland area boasts a stunning park system, with miles of lakes and trails. Part of it even falls along the Buckeye Trail.
7. Home of Rock And Roll
Not only was it a Cleveland DJ who coined the phrase "rock and roll", we also have the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame right downtown. It's a pretty cool thing to claim if you ask me.
8. It's My Home
Although Cleveland may not be the city I was born in, it's the place that I will always call my home, and I have a lot of hometown pride.
