Book festivals truly bring book nerds together. Over the past weekend, I went to the North Texas Teen Book Festival in Irving, Texas, with one of my best friends from Maryland. I’d been to a smaller book festival in Texas before, but NTTBF was a whole new experience, and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere of a book festival is so exciting and the bookish community really comes together. All book lovers should definitely try to go to a festival at least once in their life!

1. You get to meet people who love books as much as you do:

2. You get to meet your favorite authors, and get them to sign your books!

3. You can attend panels where the authors talk about their books with their readers and other authors

4. No one will judge you for being a total fangirl (or fanboy):

5. You can ask the authors why the hell they killed your favorite character:

6. You can get pictures with the authors (or just take stalker pics of them):

7. Publishers sometimes hand out ARC (advanced readers copies) of books so you get to read them before they hit the shelves:

8. You get to party all weekend doing what you love-- reading and talking about books!

One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
