8 Reasons Why Big/Little Is Actually A Dating Game

Once the recruitment madness settles down and all the girls find their sororities, new members begin to think about Big/Little. It is an exciting time for future big and littles alike. It is a sacred bond and an instant connection everyone knows and loves. Being accepted into a new sorority fam is basically the next best thing after bid day, but the process can seem a little like an episode of the bachelor.

1. You use the words "they are meant to be"

It's not weird. Some girls just meet someway, somehow, and everyone knows it. They are just meant to be. They are instantly best friends and you know that they found their fam.

2. Playing matchmaker

"Oh couldn't you see this girl and that girl together??" "Oh my gosh me too....I think I'm going to tell them...they should totally hang out."

3. You go on dates

Just like any dating show you've seen, the dates are important. What should we do? I want to be casual...something not too long, but I still want to seem interested. Do you think she likes coffee?

4. You get gifts

All future littles rejoice when the future bigs come into the room, showering littles with all kinds of gifts. What could be better than getting mounds of candy, t-shirts, snacks, pens, stickers, basically anything you can think of.

5. It's what everyone is talking about

Did you see that episode of The Bachelor last night? Its a conversation starter. Big/Little is basically that. Who does this girl want? Who does that girl want? It's just too big of a deal to not talk about.

6. People pair up

You find a girl you like, and you stick with her. You do not want to lose the potentially best future big. You start to see friendships and bonds forming, which is a step closer to finding your person.

7. There is a big reveal

Every episode is a step closer to who the Bachelor/Bachelorette will pick to marry. It all builds up to that last episode. Finding your fam is pretty much like that. Every date, every interaction, and every conversation is a build up to the Big/Little reveal. Both end in tears. And happiness. And pictures. Lots and lots of pictures.

8. You live happily ever after

Now the fam has the newest addition! All the stress and nerves fade away.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
