Being sick is never fun. We all dread the winter cold and flu, so we get our flu vaccines, wash our hands a billion times, yet the inevitable happens. You end up with a runny nose, sore throat, cough, etc. I've always dreaded being sick. However, I now realize that being sick at home is much better than at college. Here's a few reasons why being sick in college flat out sucks:

1. All you want is to lay in bed

Yet staying in bed all day is actually impossible due to the problem of adulthood. You have so many things you have to accomplish, including homework, laundry, cleaning and not to mention going to class. Leaving bed has never been so hard.

2. You just want your mom

The comfort of having someone care for you while your sick has completely disappeared. You are now forced to deal with it on your own...and people said adulthood was fun.

3. You just want soup at all hours of the day

Sure, the cafeteria supplies soup, but at this point leaving your bed just seems irrational, plus nothing compares to the homemade soup you get at home.

4. You actually have to go to class

It's not like high school anymore where you can call in sick and be excused, attendance may count in your class. You have to motivate yourself to get your ass out of bed and sit through a class full of sniffles.

5. You have to go to the doctors yourself and take care of it

You have to find your way to the doctors, get your own prescription and remember to take it during your crazy, busy days. If that isn't stressful, I don't know what is.

6. Everybody is sick

There's no avoiding getting sick in the dorms. Once someone is sick, it's like a never ending chain of sickness. You and your roommates value Lysol more than ever before.

7. You just want to go home

The thought that no one is here to take care of you but yourself begins to set in, and all you want is to be at home and not have to be responsible for your well-being. You start to reminiscence on the times when you could lay in bed all day and your mom would bring you soup and check up on you every hour to make sure you were okay.

8. You feel like you don't have time to actually get better

With being so busy in college and constantly having to walk across campus in the bitter cold, it seems as if you will never get better.

It's safe to say that many of us took for granted being sick pre-college, because it is now the absolute worst. Cold and flu medicine are definitely some of our best friends.
