The live action Beauty and the Beast finally hits movie theaters this Friday, March 17th. If you still need some convincing to go see this remake of the tale as old as time, here's why you need to go see Beauty and the Beast!
1.Belle was probably one of your favorite, if not your favorite, Disney princesses.
Belle is smart, kind, and loves to read-- how could she have not been your ideal Disney princess growing up?
2. She's probably still your favorite princess today.
Don't even try to deny the envy you feel when you visit Disney World and see her walking around in that classic yellow gown and a prince on her arm.
3. One person, two words: Emma Watson.
Emma Watson as Belle isn't just a dream come true for her; it's a dream come true for all of us!
4. The movie recreates some of your favorite songs from the original.
Emma Watson singing "Belle" and "Something There"? Yes, please! Ariana Grande and John Legend will be also featured in the film with their rendition of "Beauty and the Beast".
5. Beside Emma Watson, the film features more of your favorite actors.
Josh Gad, who voiced Olaf in Frozen, plays Gaston's right-hand man, LeFou. Stanley Tucci, who you'll recognize from his roles in The Devil Wears Prada and The Hunger Games, takes on a newly-created role for the film. Tucci plays Cadenza, the grand piano.
6. It makes a Harry Potter reference in the very beginning
In the very beginning of "Belle", Belle asks the townsman if he's lost something and he remarks,"Problem is, I can't remember what". Seem familiar? That's because Hermione and Neville have a similar conversation in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! As Neville's Remembrall turns red, Hermione asks what he has lost and he replies, "The only problem is, I can't remember what I've forgotten." Coincidence? I think not!
7. It's basically your childhood.
Between the above Harry Potter reference and Emma going from Hermione to Belle, this movie is combining two of your childhood obsessions-- Harry Potter and Disney! And Emma Watson isn't the only actress with Harry Potter in her background. Emma Thompson, who played Professor Trelawney in HP, plays Mrs.Potts.
8. It'll get you excited for all the Disney live-action remakes to come.
With Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King in the works of becoming live-action films, Beauty and the Beast will prepare you for what to expect of Disney's future remakes.
