8 Reason Why 'Fixer Upper' Is HGTV's Best Show Yet
HGTV

One may think that "Fixer Upper" is just another HGTV show that flips houses from terrible to beautiful, but that person would be wrong. Chip and Joanna Gaines are a power couple, and they are so relatable. Here's eight reasons why you need to start watching this show ASAP, if you haven't already fallen in love with it.

1. Their designs are beautiful every time.

While some argue that they provide the same design every time, why fix it if it isn't broken? It's beautiful, timeless, perfect for the neighborhood, and exactly what the clients want.

2. We love Waco, Texas.

This cute town in Texas suits their country chic style perfectly and because of this show, I wouldn't mind relocating there so they could take any house I choose in that area and make it look like the most amazing one on the block.

3. Chip & Joanna are the cutest ever.

They have such a real and adorable relationship that we can all dream of having: a partner in crime to be also their best friend.

4. The Children.

This show brings in such a great family value to the show. They bring along the kids to some projects to show the kids what they work so hard on and see that hard work pays off. And they all adorably look like their parents, and that's just the cutest thing ever.

5. Their Farmhouse is beautiful.

It's practically every "Fixer Upper" fan's dream to walk through this house. To see the beautiful farmhouse kitchen sink to shiplap probably everywhere.

6. It's the perfect mix of everything you need in a TV show.

You can like any genre of TV, and you'll like this show. There's romance, family, drama, a true underdog story, drama, and action (demolition day!).

7. Speaking of demo day...

I love demo day, where we truly get to see Chip shine. He is like a child on Christmas morning, except he's breaking through walls instead of unwrapping gifts.

8. Last, but definitely not least... shiplap.

The beautiful and transformational wood on the wall that stole our hearts when Joanna obsessed over it for the very first time.

I can't imagine that you need any more convincing, so go ahead and turn on HGTV now (or log onto Netflix) and get watching. This adorable family with amazing talent is one you will fall in love with the second you finish episode one.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
