It’s two weeks into the new year and you’re starting to freak out. You already took 3 days off from the gym and couldn’t resist that last slice of holiday cake left on the counter. Luckily, you’re not alone. It might be starting to appear like maintaining a healthy lifestyle is far from attainable but I'm here to reassure you that you can eat (a piece of your cake) and have it too.

1. Buy a membership.

Rather it isa gym, spin class, or yoga find something you like! Finding motivation to get yourself to the gym is hard enough, by signing up for a group fitness activity you have a set schedule for your day! You're already paying for it so might as well get your money's worth right?! Besides, haven't you heard being fit is totally the new black.

2. Stop comparing.

You're going to have a hard time staying motivated if you're trying to outrun the girl next to you on the treadmill, go at your own place! While you're at it, stop Instagram stalking bikini models... these are your goals remember?!

3. Find friends with similar goals.

As if your friends aren't already your go-to for everything, why not crush the new year together?! It'll make things a lot easier and more fun if you're doing squats in front of the entire weights section at the gym with your bestie.

4. Say 'bye-bye' to fake food.

Although those pink frosted donuts look beautiful in your pantry, toss them in the trash. Start replacing unnecessary processed food with REAL food, not only will your body thank you but so will your jeans.

5. Get creative.

Let's be real. It's near impossible to just cut sugar and carbs out of your eating habits cold turkey. Scroll down Pinterest and you'll find endless healthy recipes to aid your sweet tooth guilt free!

6. Make a deadline.

Whether it's spring break or a music festival, chances are you aren't going to be wearing very much clothing. Make plans, set the date and throw away the Cheetos, you'll need those hands to hold your weights. By the time your trip rolls around, you'll be confident as ever!

7. Don't be so hard on yourself.

You're not the first and you're most definitely not the last person to fall off track with their goals. Let yourself enjoy taco Tuesday (plus a couple margaritas) without guilt every now and again. Don't deprive your body, just start fresh the next day and you'll be back on the road to your dream body in no time.

8. Love yourself.

There's not a number on that scale or a size in those jeans could change how fabulous of a person you already are. Stick with your goals because you love your body (and yourself), not because you hate it. Love yourself so that every day feels like you're strutting down the runway.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
