8 Quotes For Daily Inspiration
First Descents

For those who love a bit of daily inspiration, here are a few quotes I've found myself pretty connected to and inspired by.

1. "Change will not come if we wait for other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." - Barack Obama

Whether or not you agree with his politics, Obama was a very inspiring president. His quote above only adding to the cause, he's right. We can no longer wait around for people to come along and change the world, we ARE those people. We've got to step up and make the change otherwise our world will be a never-ending cycle of tragedy and hate.

2. "Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can." - Arthur Ashe

To make a change, whether that be in your life or others, starts with you, where you are. You're never going to get anywhere if you don't start somewhere. SO if you're down in the dumps, not very motivated, or just scared to make a change, just jump to it and do you're best with you have!

3. "It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop." - Confucius

Number 3 and number 2 go hand in hand. Regardless the situation, just start somewhere and do not stop. Keep going and keep growing.

4. " The mind is everything, what you think you become." - Buddha

It's pretty self-explanitory but whatever you choose to think and feel you will become. If you fill your head with negative thoughts, you will become a negative person. It's about filling your mind with positive thoughts, hopeful thoughts, and taking care of your mind as you would your body.

5. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr. Seuss

Yes, losing a relationship or losing a loved one can hurt but instead of dwelling on the pain, be thankful they were apart of your life, be thankful you had the opportunity to know them and be apart of their lives.

6. "The only way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing." - Aristotle

No matter the situation, the person, or the activity - there will always be criticism. You cannot escape it, and it's important to remember 3 things: do not let this bring you down from trying and succeeding, learn the difference between constructive criticism and straight ignorance, and have an open mind to welcome constructive criticism - it allows you to improve and grow.

7. "The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes." - Frank Lloyd Wright

We all have days where life is hard but it's important to remember, especially when you're young, that life will have it's rainy moments but it should never tear you down from finding the rainbow (or dancing in the rain if that's your thing!) There is beauty in everything and as life goes on it is easier to understand and believe in that.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
