Spring break is underway for some; for others, midterms are still ongoing; for many, classes are rapidly back in session. It is halfway through the semester, and while we have come so far, there is still more to go!

Around this time of year, so many students and working adults are busy with classes, jobs, meetings, social outings and more. And that is a wonderful thing! Allow me to motivate you to move forward and never give up by sharing 8 of my favorite quotes as articulated by notable New Jersey natives:

1. Meryl Streep

"Integrate what you believe in every single area of your life. Take your heart to work and ask the most and best of everybody else, too." - Meryl Streep, Summit

2. Jon Bon Jovi

2. "Believe in love. Believe in magic. Hell, believe in Santa Clause. Believe in others. Believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams. If you don't, who will?" - Jon Bon Jovi, Perth Amboy

3. Whitney Houston

"I decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadow; if I fail, or if I succeed at least I did as I believe." - Whitney Houston, Newark

4. Bruce Springsteen

"Somebody who can reckon with the past, who can live with the past in the present, and move towards the future - that's fabulous." - Bruce Springsteen, Long Branch

5. Lea Michelle

6. Paul Simon

7. Cory Booker

"You've got to be one like that, wherever you are, like a flower, you've got to blossom where you're planted. You cannot eliminate darkness. You cannot banish it by cursing darkness. The only way to get rid of darkness is light and to be the light itself." - Cory Booker, Harrington Park

8. Queen Latifah

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
