8 Prayers For Our Country And For Our New President
Quartz

I pray that our country will start to love instead of hate. Enough is enough with all of the bashful and hateful comments and actions toward each other. I don’t understand why “hating” has become such a normal thing in today’s world. I hope that there comes a time when we can all accept each other for who they are and for their opinions.

I pray that one day, hopefully soon, everyone in our country will feel safe. People have begun to say that they do not feel safe now that Trump has been elected president, but in reality, there were a ton of other people who were afraid before he was elected. I know that everyone will not feel one-hundred percent safe tomorrow, but I hope that over time and with work, one-day people will not be afraid or feel unsafe.

I pray that people start to recognize our new president and will support him. There are so many people who have been saying “He’s not my president, I’m still with her”. It is great that we live in a world where we are allowed to express our opinions, but Trump won President for a reason, and there’s nothing that is going to change that. He is our President for the next four years, whether we like it or not. If we look back eight years ago when Obama was first elected into office, there were plenty of people who were angry and outraged that he was our President, but you know what? He got elected twice because there were people who believed in him. Those who did not favor Obama still supported him and waited to see what he would do with our nation. For eight years, the citizens of America watched to see what Obama could accomplish instead of thrashing out and causing unnecessary fights. Donald Trump needs the same prayers and support that Obama had. Our President needs us to help him succeed. He needs people who will support him in order for him to succeed as the President. Wanting the President to fail is basically wanting our country to fail. People may not like him, nor like the people who support him, but there is no reason under any circumstances for destroying symbols of our country, like the American Flag. We all need to unite and support our country.

For you, President Trump:

I pray that you surround yourself with people who will support you and guide you in the right direction. Considering you do not have a political background, I hope that you acquire people on your team who do have the experience and knowledge that will help you succeed during your term.

I pray that you continue to love America and strive to continue to help point our country in the right way. You are a true American businessman who understands people who are in the workforce. If you fighting for our country does not say that you love and support our country, I do not know what does. I hope that your love and passion for our country continues throughout your term.

I pray that you do not forget the opinions of the American people. A lot of people support you because you bring an outside view to politics. You understand the average American person’s thoughts and hopes. I hope you continue to work toward creating more jobs for people and making life overall better.

I pray that you continue to have open eyes and ears toward the American people. I understand that some of your views are written in stone, but I hope that you will still consider and respect people for who they are, no matter what their gender, race, age or their sexuality is.

I pray for you, President Donald Trump, that you can help make America Great Again.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
