Key To A Resolution: Start Small

8 Practical New Year's Resolutions

Okay, let's face it, the yearly resolution of working out and staying in shape doesn't get far. It's time to skip that resolution and stick to more practical resolutions this new year.

1. Eat Healthier

There's no need to change your whole diet and stick to a strict 'rabbit food' diet. Start with limiting yourself to only one sweet a day or try to slowly give up your favorite sugary item.

2. Save Money

You can easily save money without trying filling up the piggy bank. Skip the coffee drive-thru in the morning, order a water when you go to lunch, save all your coins, and find the best deals.

3. Leave More Time For Yourself

It is important to spend a little time each week to organize your thoughts and plan your goals for the week. Sit down and take a minute to breathe and do something you enjoy.

4. Say Yes To More Things

Learn to say yes to more opportunities you are offered. It could potentially change your life by finding a new love for something or meeting a new person. Sometimes it is better to do something you are unsure of than to sit back and regret not taking the opportunity.

5. Give Yourself A Break

Sometimes we get so busy running around that we never stop to think about what we really want to get out of this year. Before we know it, the year is over. It's time to plan that vacation.

6. Smile More

When someone smiles at you, it automatically makes you smile. Smiling can turn someone's day around. It is important to look at the positive of every situation. Not every day is a good day, but there is good in every day.

7. Try New Things

It's time to make an effort to do something you've never done before and have always wanted to. Take on a new hobby or travel somewhere you've never been.

8. Keep A Journal

At the end of each year we look back over our memories and always wonder how much we have grown as a person. Keep a journal to relive these memories and to remember these new resolutions.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.

Ah, Ms. Chanandler Bong, or Chandler Bing as he is better known as. For 10 years, Chandler brought us many laughs, many tears, and, well, Matthew Perry's fame. He is, personally, my favorite character on "Friends" because he made me laugh more than any other character on the show and I felt like I could relate to him more than the other characters on the show.
