While it's sad summer has come to a close, one of the best seasons is now upon us. Even though a lot of the time people from New York and Long Island wish we could experience warm weather all year round, one of the best parts about living here is experiencing every season. Long Island isn't just known for its bagels and beaches. We've also got so much here to do in the fall!

1. Harbes Orchard in Riverhead

One of the best places for corn, apple picking, cider and even pumpkins! It's a great family farm and they even have a vineyard for those who enjoy their wine ;)

2. Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns in Westbury

Every year in Old Westbury Gardens 5,000, 100 pound pumpkins are carved, displayed and lit to make a beautiful display to go see as we approach Halloween. For ticket info visit their site https://www.therise.org.

3. Schmidt's Farm in Melville

Personally this is my favorite place in fall. From their hay ride, to snacks, to pumpkin picking, corn maze and their awesome, high quality haunted house, Schmidt's is the place to be for fall.

4. The Beaches

While summer may be over, one of the best parts of fall is driving to the beach on a nice day and curling up with a blanket or walking along the water just taking in how nice it is to still be able to go to the beach even though it's no longer 85 degrees.

5. The Witches Brew in Hempstead

Although this place is awesome all year round, The Witches Brew is especially awesome as it gets closer to Halloween because of its decorations and not to mention delicious hot chocolates, coffee and warm desserts.

6. Walks at Caumsett State Park

Taking a walk through Caumsett is one of the best parts of fall. Whether you're working out or just talking a relaxing stroll, there's no doubt it's gorgeous in the fall. As well as the perfect time for a hike along the trails there down to the beach!

7. The Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay

This is the 32nd year for the Festival where you can have an awesome weekend of games and activities and also eat a large assortment of some of the best seafood you can imagine. Go to their website to see more http://theoysterfestival.org.

8. Walks for Causes at State Parks and Jones Beach

There are many causes we support during the fall months and because of this there are some great benefit walks held for these causes that you can participate in.

Hope you enjoy this fall as much as I will!

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
