The New England Patriots are continuing to surprise the National Football League. Because of the “deflate gate” controversy from two seasons ago, the starting quarterback for the Patriots, Tom Brady, was suspended for the first four games of this NFL season. Many people believed that the Patriots would be unable to win a game without their superstar quarterback.
For the first two games of the season, back up QB Jimmy Garoppolo had no problem leading the Pats to victory against the Cardinals and the Dolphins. This alone shocked many NFL fans, especially since the Cardinals are considered to be a top tier team. But after Garoppolo got injured in week two, the Pats were forced to start their rookie QB pick from the third round, Jacoby Brissett.
After that, many people doubted the Patriots ability to win with Brissett starting, especially since the Pats were set to face a supposedly strong Houston Texans team. This was proved to be false when Brissett led New England to a 27-0 victory over Houston. By this time, many fans began to believe that the Patriots have such a good offensive system that they could plug anyone in at the quarterback spot and it would not affect their ability to win.
Shortly after the win over the Texans, it was announced the Brissett was injured. After Brissett, there is no other quarterback on the Patriots depth chart. However, after seeing two backup quarterbacks lead the Patriots to a 3-0 start, many people began to joke and hold onto the theory that New England could start anything or anyone at QB and still find a way to win. Several names have been brought up from Hillary Clinton to Family Guy’s Peter Griffin
As an avid NFL fan and Disney and Pixar fan, I wondered if there were any characters from Pixar that could be plugged into the offensive system. The answer is yes. These are 8 of the best characters that, if they were real, could lead the Pats to a win if they started at the quarterback position.
1. Andy (Toy Story)
This would ring more true for the third film in the Toy Story series, seeing as how he is a college student in the latest installment. But by that time, he has also matured and is likely into sports, so at the very least he’d understand what’s going on in a game
2. Sulley (Monsters, Inc.)
Sulley is literally a monster. That statement would stand true if he ever got the chance to play in a real game.
3. Bob Parr (The Incredibles)
Nobody would be able to sack him thanks to his super strength. His receivers would have all day to get open
4. King Fergus (Brave)
Another difficult person to tackle. Plus chances are, even though his running skills would be limited, he probably has a good arm.
5. Dash Parr (The Incredibles)
He might as well play every position to be honest. Stopping somebody with super speed would be impossible.
6. Remy & Alfredo Linguini (Ratatouille)
This little duo was pretty successful when it came to cooking. Who says they can’t do the same on the field? The only issue would be to figure out how to fit Remy under the helmet.
7. Russel (Up)
His “never give up” enthusiasm and spirit would keep him going throughout the game.
8. Merida (Brave)
Who says girls can’t play quarterback? After all, she’s super accurate with a bow and arrow and she’s also incredibly athletic. If she can maintain the same level of accuracy from her archery and use it in football… game over.
