Why leave the past in the past? With jean skirts and chokers making their way back into the hip and social scene, it’s high time to address the other wonderful trends that really never should have gone out of style. Honestly, we left some real gems in the dust back in the mid 2000’s. This can be fixed. Here are all the hot styles that shouldn’t have ever been put in the back of the wardrobe that will be coming back into pop culture soon.
- Gauchos: Unbelievably comfortable pants that used to be straight up so fashionable. Why would we ever let go of that? These were the yoga pants of 2005, minus the part of the yoga pant that is actually tight on your thigh. Hopefully you are now realizing how dumb we have all been to ever stop wearing these.
- Tankinis: In honor of spring break, nothing like the modesty of the two-piece that covers you like a one piece. Could anyone hate that? These were like the training wheels on the way to wearing the full-blown bikini in the younger years. But honestly, they protect against sunburn while being more practical than the one-piece which is virtually impossible to go to the bathroom in.
- Scrunchies: These are for sure on their way back into popularity already but this is my shameless plug to remind everyone that they rock. You can pick what color you want based on what mood you’re in. They don’t leave quite as bad of a ponytail line. What more do you want.
- Crocs: Don’t judge. Practical shoes with little in the way of looks. They float, they are waterproof, and they are squishy. Is there anything they can’t do?
- Sillybandz: That’s just so fun. Little rubber bands that you can layer all up and down your arm that turn into animals when you take them off. Entertainment in its most pure form
- Roller backpacks: Again, not really a stunning trend, but so practical. All the kids these days are getting back problems at absurdly young ages--this problem is easily fixed using what is essentially a suitcase for your everyday classes.
- The headbands that had long fabric hanging down both sides: So hard to describe. You could tie them under your hair or just leave them hanging down. Guys, I don’t actually want these to come back in style but I think people need to remember that this was a thing and it is gone but not forgotten kids.
- Heelys: Now they are banned in a lot of different establishments, I’m talking malls, restaurants, and pretty much most places that, reasonably, won’t let you rollerblade inside. But these rocked. Now were they practical for walking or even remotely attractive? Absolutely not; they were massive and had a wheel in the heel. But, still so cool.
