Whoever said your soulmate was somebody you plan on marrying? Although I do believe that is possible, I realize it doesn’t necessarily have to be your significant other.

I was riding in the car not too long ago with a friend I graduated high school with. When we were catching each other up on gossip and news, she said something that made me open my eyes a little bit. She said something along the lines of “I’m a believer that your soulmate isn’t necessarily somebody you want to marry someday, It can be a best-friend, too.”

Although I bet I’ve seen that posted numerous places online, and have probably even heard it many times in my life, it stuck with me a little bit more this time.

My best friend is my soulmate for many out-of-the-ordinary reasons… so here are 8 reasons why.

1. She Understands I’m Not Actually Cold Hearted.

If you’re much like me and tend to come off as a little bit bitter (yes, I’ve been told this), find yourself that friend who realizes you still have a big heart, even after you’ve just finished complaining about how much they’re currently annoying you.

2. She Doesn’t Tell Me I Look Good If I Actually Look Ugly.

Nobody wants a friend that lies to you about how you look. If I look bad in a picture, I don’t want my best-friend to allow me to post it any more than I want her to lie to me about how fuzzy my hair really is today, no matter how long it took me to curl it.

3. She Forces Me To Get Out Of My House And DO Things.

This can go either way. We both have our hobbies, and even though skiing has never been on my bucket list, I am soon being dragged down a ski hill. I have a love-hate relationship with this, although I am the one known for dragging her places with me.

4. She Tells Me When She Thinks I’m Wrong.

Although I’m still learning to accept this quality and gather the fact I’m not always right, she does it for the best of me. I realize I’m not always right (even though in the moment I can swear that this time I’m right)… even though sometimes I end up wrong.

5. She Doesn’t Restrict The Amount Of Food I Eat.

This is both a blessing and a curse. I’ve definitely had friends that have made me feel like I need to watch how much I eat around them in fear of being judged. (Realistically that’s probably a good thing... but It’s also good to have a best-friend that chows down with you when you’re starving).

6. She Will Save Me From An Unwanted Conversation If Needed.

Call me and ask me what our plans are for tonight, and talk to me until it kills this conversation I’m currently having.” That explains itself.

7. She Sings Her Lungs Out With Me In The Car.

Honestly, there aren’t many people I sing in the car with. If I sing with you, feel lucky. I love to jam to good throwbacks, especially when it’s late at night with my best friend.

8. She Deals With Me On My Bad Days.

We all have bad days, some worse than others. Even when I am being a complete B, and giving out vibes nobody would want to be around for, she’s there… and I can’t thank her enough for being my soulmate.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
