Disney movies are always remembered as a wonderful part of our childhoods.
All of the Friday nights spent cuddled up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn to watch the newest Disney Channel Original Movie that you had been looking forward to. With every passing season came new seasonal movies and the best ones of the year: the Halloween movies. From "Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire," to "Hocus Pocus," the Disney Channel Original Halloween movies are among the best. And here is a definitive ranking of the eight best Halloween movies.
8. "Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire"
This was a tough movie to watch because we all knew what was happening pretty much the whole time. And even though we knew it was only a movie, it was hard to not feel bad for these kids because who would want to lose their mom to a vampire?
7. "The Haunted Mansion"
In all honesty, this is one of my favorite Eddie Murphy films. The kooky-ness of the whole movie gave it a very light feeling while also providing the jump scares that every Halloween movie needs. The interesting and funny characters help to bring balance and make it a pleasant Halloween movie for all kids.
6. "Phantom of the Megaplex"
This was one of my all-time favorite Halloween movies from Disney Channel, even though it did scare me away from movie theaters for a while after I saw it. The relation between the movie titles and the pranks being pulled had kids laughing until they thought about if it was them, one of the best parts of the movie.
5. "Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge"
Although the entire Halloweentown series is a gem, (excluding "Return to Halloweentown" because they switched Marnie's actress) they're not all on the same level. Some are better, some are worse, and this one is on the low end. Sometimes this movie felt subpar and kind of boring.
4. "Twitches"
Who doesn't love a movie about long-lost twins who have magical powers and are also long-lost princesses destined to defeat evil together? I know I do! It was hard not to root for these two in their fight against the darkness, and even harder to not love their protectors Karsh and Ileana too.
3. "Halloweentown High"
One of the better movies from the "Halloweentown" series, this one felt easy to relate to. Many of the kids watching it were experiencing school for the first time just like these students and it was cool to be able to see all different types of "monsters" from Halloweentown.
2. "Hocus Pocus"
The first good Halloween movie to introduce kids to witches, "Hocus Pocus" is one of the bests. The over exaggerated characters combined with the hilarious lines made for a great movie. Add in the fright caused by three witches, and it's the perfect recipe for a spooky Halloween experience.
1. "Halloweentown"
I'm sure it's not much of a surprise that this movie takes the cake. The original "Halloweentown" sparked the love for an entire series, giving kids the chance to see a world where monsters and magic exist. Plus, Grandma Cromwell was by far the best movie grandma Disney created.
