The planet that we all call home is one of the most intriguing and amazing subjects I have ever stumbled upon. The Earth, or as I like to call her, Mother Nature, has always been one to both fear and revere. She has given life, produced breathtaking places, and allowed our species to reach for the stars. But the things that make her fearsome and even cruel are one of the most intriguing of all.

Tornadoes

One of the most thrilling and scary things that Mother Nature produces is the tornado. So much force is packed in this column of air. It leaves devastation and destruction in its wake and has even killed. But taking all of that away, it is an awe-inspiring sight.

Lightning

These bolts of electricity are truly inspirational. They are a sight to behold, even though they can cause some serious damage. However, we can thank Mother Nature for such a show as it helped in the creation of electricity for our kind.

Wildfires

Common causes of a wildfire include lightning, drought, human negligence, and arson. However, such an event is truly terrifying, which makes Mother Nature even more fearsome. Wildfires spread fast and are hard to control. Thus, much damage and death is left in their wake, but there can be a silver lining as fires can replenish the land and allow for better growth of vegetation.

Earthquakes

When the Earth shakes, you realize just how powerful Mother Nature really is. Such events can cause much destruction and death. However, when taken out of context, earthquakes are one of the most astounding natural disasters.

Volcanic Eruptions

These massive explosions are full of power and energy. Able to create massive destruction and death in their wake, they are never to take lightly. However, they are also responsible for creating islands so this is one natural disaster that tops the cake.

Tsunamis

These usually occur after a volcanic eruption and/or earthquake. It can be such a sight to behold, this wall of water. Moreover, it can cause a lot of devastation, making this natural disaster one of Mother Nature’s more amazing talents.

Floods

These usually occur after massive rain fall or an overflow of a body of water. The death and destruction for such an event is major, however the power behind such a disaster is incredible.

Avalanches/Landslides

Usually occurring after an earthquake, these disasters can have devastating effects. Causing major destruction and even death, one must always be aware of their surroundings. Mother Nature’s power is evident when giant sheets of snow and/or land starts to slide.

Mother Nature’s strength and power is always present and must never be taken for granted. These are just a few of the disasters she can produce that can send entire cities and even continents into chaos. We should never forget just how capable our planet is at putting our species back into our place in the natural order.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
