8 Must-Visit Ice Cream Stands In The Capital Region Of Upstate New York
Curry Freeze

1. Ice Cream Man - Greenwich NY

This stand was featured on the Food Network which says a lot. All the flavors are homemade and unique, like orange pineapple, cannoli, and a bunch more. The flavors change every day, so you never know what cool flavor will pop up next.

2. Amy's - Schoharie NY

This is a classic that is well known in Schoharie county. Although it seems like a standard ice cream stand from the menu and how it looks on the outside, the real gold of this stand is the ice cream itself - some of the best I’ve ever had, and the locals will tell you the same.

3. Curry Freeze - Schenectady NY

A much-anticipated opening always takes place here - people wait until March for this. On opening day, you can find a line of people waiting. One thing this stand is known for is homemade ice cream cakes. Who doesn’t like a good ice cream cake?

4. Poppy’s - Rotterdam NY

Located right up the road from Curry Freeze, this stands specialty consists of homemade Italian ice, hard ice creams, and soft custard. If you haven’t had a good Italian ice in a long time with a variety of different flavors, then I suggest you get on over here soon.

5. Snowman - Troy NY

Very well known in upstate, this is a classic for most in the area and a must visit over the summer for anyone who enjoys a good ice cream.

6. Emack & Bolio's - Albany NY

Emack & Bolio's is a dessert chain that serves a variety of creative ice cream flavors and frozen yogurt as well as other desserts. Try it out you, might enjoy a creative flavor every once and awhile.

7. Kurver Kreme - Albany NY

Known for larger-than-life ice cream sundaes and milkshakes in various flavors, if you want a really big treat, I suggest you make this place your next stop.

8. Cobleskill Diner - Cobleskill NY

Located on the side of the Cobleskill diner, these ice cream cones are gigantic. These cones range in sizes small enough where you still can’t finish it to so large that it has to be laid down in an ice cream sundae container.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
