The perfect spring break trip or summer vacation getaway for a college student is a music festival. Great music, and a gorgeous destination? Two birds with one stone. Who wouldn't be interested? There are countless music festivals all across the world, from small, local festivals to the ones that draw international attention and Grammy-winning artists. Below are some of the most well-known music festivals that will be played in 2017. Besides, your Instagram and Tumblr feeds will be full of so many pictures, it will almost be like you're actually there, right?
1. Coachella
Coachella has always drawn big-name artists, like Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, and Grouplove. This year's lineup (which was just released last week) doesn't disappoint. DJ Khaled, Two Doors Cinema Club, Tove Lo, Lorde, Glass Animals, Bon Iver and more are slated to play this April. Celebrities like the Jenners, Vanessa Hudgens, and many others flock to Coachella, which is held every year in Indio, California. Seeing all the tanned festival goers with beach waves and flower crowns will give you serious FOMO.
2. Lollapalooza
Even though the official line up for 2017 hasn't been released, music and festival fans will undoubtedly turn out in droves. Lolla has yet to let us down. Just last year, Melanie Martinez, Lana Del Ray, G-Eazy, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and X Ambassadors performed at the four-day fest. Right in the heart of Chicago, there's also plenty more to experience when the music's not playing.
3. Hangout Fest
Chance the Rapper. Twentyone Pilots. Frank Ocean. Weezer. Mumford and Sons. Are you buying your ticket yet? In addition to a string of well-known artists, Hangout also has lots of Indie artists making appearances (Mutemath, The Strumbellas, and Young the Giant). Jam along with all these artists with your toes in the sand and the ocean right next to you. Sunny Gulf Shores, Alabama, is the place to be.
4. Electric Forest Festival
What sets the Electric Forest Festival apart from lots of others is the fact that it lasts two weekends. Most last a weekend, four days at most. DJ Snake, Dillon Frances, and Waka Flocka Flame are on the line up for the weekend. Plus, it's tucked away in a hidden spot in a forest in Michigan. Unusual? Maybe. But a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? Definitely.
5. Glastonbury Festival
Why not take a quick trip across the pond for the music festival of your dreams?? Glastonbury Fest takes place in Somerset, England and has played host to artists like Coldplay, Adele, ZZ Top, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, The 1975, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and The Lumineers. While it's not nearly as well-known in the United States, it has over 100 states with musicians of all genres and areas of the world.
6. Ultra Music Festival
If EDM is your thing, Ultra is for you. It's dedicated almost solely to DJs and EDM artists. This year, Steve Aoki, David Guetta, Afrojack and Martin Garrix will all be in Miami, Florida, to play to crowds full of spring breakers. Spring break on the beach and a super rad music festival in one stop? Why not!
7. Firefly Music Festival
If you'd rather travel to New England, Firefly Music Festival might be your cup of tea. It takes place in Dover, Delaware, and is considered the East Coast's "premier music experience." This year, Kings of Leon, Deadmau5, Florence + the Machine, Imagine Dragons, and Childish Gambino are all alumni of the festival. Camping is very popular at Firefly, considering it's located on a wooded reserve area, so save some money by "roughing it" for the weekend.
8. Panorama
Panorama, which is located in New York City, tries to fuse art, music, and technology together in this unforgettable festival. Alabama Shakes, FKA Twigs, Sia, and The Frontbottoms all played last year, and fans are certain this year's lineup will be just as good, if not better. Just like Lollapalooza, the location gives festival goers a chance to experience the city of New York, as well as the festival.
