The 8 Most Annoying Things About Sunday's In College

The Sunday Scaries are not made up. They are very real friends. SO, we all know the feeling of Sunday morning. Realizing that you haven’t actually done anything all weekend to get yourself prepared for the entire week of real life ahead of you? Being unsure of your own eating schedule because you woke up at just the wrong in-between-breakfast-and-lunch time? You aren’t alone. Sunday’s make everyone feel a little weird- here’s 8 of the most annoying things about the, technically, first day of the week.

  1. Obviously, realizing all that work that you actually have do: Realistically, we're lucky if we are still up to date on all the stuff due last week and on top of it, there is an entire week more looming in front of you. Excellent.
  2. There are always -5 seats open in the library: Like the whole world all of a sudden loves your favorite spot in the library. Where have you been all week?
  3. Trying to pick music that is appropriate to study to: Maybe this is just a personal issue, but lots of music is just a little too loud that I can’t think or it makes me want to pass out on the desk I’m studying on. Then there is also the issue that you can find a great playlist, but then you get tired of listening to John Mayer for 12 hours of the day.
  4. Figuring out when you are supposed to eat: If you wake up at 10:30, you can either try to wait until lunch time or have a weirdly late breakfast? Then you’re going to be hungry again at like 2:00? That’s not a mealtime by any stretch of the imagination.
  5. Running into people who have their life together: Hmmm, so you’re telling me you wisely used time on Friday night so you wouldn’t be so stressed today? That’s interesting.
  6. Wanting to talk to all your friends about what happened on Saturday night but you just don’t have time: Just want to know what happened. That’s all.
  7. The desires to scroll through all of the Instagrams you haven’t check all weekend: Someone take my phone from me. I just spent 45 minutes looking at Grayson Allen’s Instagram and sleuthing through the Internet trying to figure out why we booed him so much at the basketball game. I get it now, no one likes the kid that is tripping everyone. Fair enough.
  8. Trying to figure out where to start: There’s just so much that has to get done that it just seems like the best idea might be to get back in bed. Probably not the best idea. Win some lose some though.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
