Everyone had their go-to cartoons they watched as little kids and some we still watch today. These are just a few interesting life lessons I've learned over the years from my favorite cartoons.
1. Shoobies
I learned this important life lesson from one of my favorite TV shows, Rocket Power. This show taught me a very important life lesson, how not to be a “shoobie”. It is very important that under no circumstances do you ever where shoes, or socks with sandals on the beach EVER. You will be labeled lame or worse a tourist if you do so.
2. That everyone needs a smart-ass in their lives
I learned this from the incredibly informative show, The Wild Thornberrys. Darwin! He showed me how much dedication it really takes to be the sarcastic asshole of the family. So to my family and friends if you guys have ever wondered where my smart ass tendencies have come from, this is the show that started it all.
3. That touching a llama should be a life goal
I obviously learned this valuable life lesson from none other than Carl from Jimmy Neutron. Llamas were never on my radar as an interesting animal or as one that you should lose sleep over, but I was clearly misinformed. Carl cleared that up. I have now learned that llamas are like gods, they should be adored and worshipped, but you should be nervous if in their presents. Also that before you die you should earn the honor of wearing a button that states you have in fact touched a llama.
4. Handbook on how NOT to be a dumb-ass
I learned this from probably the funniest kids show. Ed, Edd, ‘n’ Eddy was the “how to” guide on everything you should avoid if you do not want to be a dumb ass. For example, DO NOT try to shove enormous jaw breakers in your mouth. You will end up looking like the massive dumbasses you are if you do. Also I’m pretty sure all characters were on some drugged out trip for basically every episode due to the greatest and most idiotic ideas.
5. That sass is an art form
The most sassy cartoon character on TV when is was a child was hands down, Angelica from The Rugrats. She could simply be saying “hi” to someone and she would make it the sassiest word you’ve ever heard. She taught me what to expect from kids who are an only child, sassy kids that throw fits if they do not get their way. And from my experiences thus far, that was not necessarily wrong.
6. You can and should make a song out of every situation
Sponge Bob was the absolute best at this. This show taught that whether you ripped your pants, have to deliver a pizza with a grumpy coworker, you want to whip out your striped sweater, or you just want to have some F.U.N. a song can be made. These are only a few of the many instances that produced hilariously catchy songs. So now whenever your board take a page from Sponge Bob and make dumb yet catchy song and you might become the next big star.
7. Grandparents are the best
I learned some of this from The Rugrats, but for the most part I learned this very important life lesson from Hey Arnold. Arnold’s grandparents raised him and always had his and his friends’ backs when ever they needed it. Even if they were doing something they probably shouldn’t do. Shout out to my grandparents because they are a lot like Arnold’s in since they’ve always been there for me and will do anything to help out my family.
8. True friends are the greatest gifts you can acquire
This phenomenal life lesson I learned from each of the shows mentioned above. True friends are the ones you can trust with anything and you want to tell them everything. They aren’t always in your life for its entirety, but when they are they make life worth living.
I hope you benefit from these very valuable life lessons. I also hope it brought back memories of Saturday morning cartoons or after school specials and all the laughs that went along with them. When life was just a bit more simple.
