8 Life Lessons We Can Learn From Carrie Bradshaw
Vogue

"Sex and the City" was one of the hit shows on HBO of the early 2000s. After two movies, many seasons on the air and countless fans still begging for more, "SATC" is still so relatable to women all across America. Fans tend to identify with one of the main characters, calling themselves either a "Carrie," "Charlotte," "Miranda" or "Samantha." For many viewers, "SATC" was more than just a television show; they connected personally with each of the characters and found a sense of comfort in the show. The show's narrator, sex and relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw, is often the most relatable out of the four protagonists. Her ups and downs on the show, and columns and eventual books, offer words of wisdom for women everywhere. There are so many life lessons that we can learn from Carrie Bradshaw.

1. Always stay true to yourself!

Through all of Carrie's tough times with friends, work and relationships, she never lost sight of who she was and maintained her personal values.

2. Even after the bad days you have to pick yourself up and move on.

After Carrie's worst day, including getting broken up with on a Post-It Note and getting arrested, she still managed to pick herself up and move on.

3. Your friends will be the ones who are there for you through thick and thin.

Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda were always there for Carrie — and each other — first and foremost. They put their friendship before practically everything else and it pays off.

4. Never give up on love!

Carrie had her fair share of relationship troubles throughout the series and the movies — ahem, being left at the altar. However, she continues to prove that Mr. Right is out there somewhere if you don't give up on him.

5. Before you can love someone else, you have to love yourself.

Carrie is the epitome of the "be your own best friend" attitude. She shows us all that loving yourself first is truly the most important thing.

6. Accept and embrace your imperfections.

Carrie shows us all to stop beating ourselves up over the small things in life and focus on the positives.

7. Always work hard for what you want in life.

Carrie notably says that she came to New York with nothing but a dream and an issue of Vogue, so she had to work really hard to get to where she is. Although her lifestyle is criticized for being unrealistic, it shows how important hard work is to accomplish anything.

8. Never be afraid to be yourself.

As Carrie shows us, being yourself and following your passions is the best way to live life!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
