8 International Foods Everyone Should Try Before They Die

Summer is just around the corner! That being said, we won't be eating the Friday Ozone, Saturday mozzarella sticks at West, or late night Skellar for at least a few months. Instead we can have great food at home or go out and maybe try something new! Here is a list of 8 amazing international dishes that might sound weird, but if your up for an adventure, try them out! Careful, some are spicy!

1. Mango and sticky rice from Thailand

It sounds very odd but it is absolutely delicious. It's sweet and a bit salty. There is coconut milk in the sticky rice and the mangoes go on right top. This is a common Thai dish and is usually served as a dessert.

2. Sarma from Romania, Serbia, and many middle eastern countries

Sarma usually contains cabbage, rhubarb, chard, grapes, a type of minced meat, and various nuts, and usually wrapped with vine leaves. Lots of people also love experimenting with the filling adding fried rice and other veggies.

3. Alloco from Cote D'Ivoire

This is a snack that containing chopped fried plantains mixed with chili peppers, onions, eggs, and tomato sauce. Yuuum.

4. Okonomiyaki from Japan

Okonomiaki is a Japanese pancake, but not eaten for breakfast. Ingredients vary depending on what restaurant or region in Japan you are in. Generally, the fillings include pork, seafood (octopus, shrimp or squid), veggies, eggs and cheese. The pancake is then topped with different sauces and shavings such as ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mayonnaise, seaweed, and bacon.

5. Poutine from Canada, Quebec region

Poutine is an intense version of cheese French fries. There is a special cheese curd that is melted on top of the fries, which are then soaked with gravy. This gets really messy but its 110% worth it.

6. Menemen from Turkey

This is a Turkish dish that contains eggs, tomato, green pepper, onion, garlic, Beyaz Peynir (white cheese), sujuk (dry spicy sausage), and spices (salt ,pepper, and oregano). Similar to an omelet, this dish is also eaten for breakfast.

7. Falafel from the Middle East

Falafels are a middle eastern deep fried ball or patty made out of ground chickpeas and fava beans. It is usually served inside peta bread so it is kind of like the filling for a sandwich. It is then topped with salad, picked vegetables, hot sauce, and tahini based sauces.

8. Kimchi

Kimchi is a Korean side dish, but can also be put in other foods such as dumplings or fried rice. It is fermented spicy cabbage. Other ingredients include vegetables such as radishes and green onions.

Enjoy the food and eat a lot! Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and give your taste buds some excitement!

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
