Like many, many other children, I grew up reading, and watching, the Harry Potter series. I was introduced to the wonderful world of Harry Potter by my older siblings who had a huge impact on me developing a deep passion for reading. The Harry Potter series was challenging to read at a young age, introduced new ideas I had never read about before, and showed me that fiction holds very important life lessons. Harry Potter isn't just wizards and witches fighting evil forces. It is a true representation of growing up and dealing with obstacles that life throws at you. Here is a list of some of the most crucial lessons I have learned from reading Harry Potter.

1. Bravery looks different for everyone

Being brave doesn't require you to defeat the most powerful and evil wizard in the world. Facing fears of any kind is a true act of bravery.

2. True friends will support you no matter what

Harry's friends throughout the series are thrown into some very dangerous situations. Regardless, his friends still love and support him through everything.

3. Scars tell a story of what you've been through

This one is very personal to me. Similar to Harry, I have had scars for my entire life due to a life changing event. I used to struggle with feeling weird or different from other kids, but Harry's confidence in his scar showed me that I can embrace my differences as well.

4. Don't be quick to judge others

It can be very easy to make assumptions about someone based on their appearance, but often appearances can be deceiving to someone's true character.

5. Always stand up for what you believe in

One of the most important lessons I have learned from Harry Potter is to never back down. If someone is saying or doing something that you feel is wrong, standing uo for yourself and your friends is always the right thing to do.

6. Love is eternal

Love knows no boundaries or distances. If someone is far away, near, dead, or alive, their love will always be there.

7. You are never alone

Everyone knows how how it feels to feel alone in the world. Even if you feel as if there is nobody there for you, somebody always cares about you and is rooting for you.

8. Being different isn't a bad thing

Luna Lovegood is not afraid to show off her quirky personality. She gave me the courage to choose who I want to be and not let others' opinions change me.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
