8 Iconic Disney Songs

When Disney World opened in 1971, no one thought that it would be as big as it is today. Over the years, Disney has created tons of movies ranging from princesses to robots to dragons that everyone loves! So many iconic songs have been created that are perfect for road trips with family and friends or even studying school work at Starbucks while singing along. Even though just about every song in every movie has been amazing, there are quite a few that really do stand out!

1. Zero To Hero, Hercules

Although it's not on Netflix anymore, I think we all have a special place in our heart for Hercules. The music and script is full of clever lines and the gospel undertones of the music just seal the deal on this soundtrack. From the beginning of the movie, the muses serve as a musical narration. Usually, I'm no fan of narration but the muses make it fun and you get to know their personalities through multiple songs as the movie goes on.

2. Love Is an Open Door, Frozen

Every time I hear this song, I just get so happy because it's just so cute! Even though (spoiler alert) Hans turns evil at the end of the movie, the chemistry he and Anna have in this song is undeniable. Their harmonies give me chills every time I listen to it and it just flows so well.

3. One Jump Ahead, Aladdin

Ah yes, the golden age of Disney! This song is so energetic and fun to listen to on a road trip! The clever tune and genius lyrics in this song make it so fun to sing along to and memorize the lyrics!

4. I've Got A Dream, Tangled

I think I speak for most, if not all, of us when I say that pretty much anyone can relate to Flynn when he says his dream is to live on an island surrounded by money. This song shows the audience that anyone, no matter their differences, can bond over having a dream and that every rough guy has a soft side! Rapunzel has this light inside of her (hehe) that just brings people together and I think that that really shows through in this song.

5. Almost There, The Princess and the Frog

Tiana's ambition is enough to inspire us all! The vintage montage in this song is so cool and unique that it's impossible not to love! Tiana is so empowering to women and so ahead of her time and knows that in order for her dream to come true, she is going to have to put in a little bit of effort!

6. Circle of Life, The Lion King

This song is so iconic for Disney! With the blend of African tunes woven into the meaningful lyrics, you can't help but think the writers of the song knew it was going to be a hit when they were writing it! If you want the classic version, that's fine, but check out the Broadway version for an amazing variation of the song!

7. Colors of the Wind, Pocahontas

Oh my goodness. This song. I may be a little biased seeing that Pocahontas is my favorite Disney movie but that's okay! This song pairs beautiful graphics as well as a phenomenal message to create the perfect mixture. Pocahontas leads John Smith to see the world as she sees it through this song and it is just amazing.

8. In Summer, Frozen

Frozen really brought its A game with this song, and Josh Gad does an amazing job with this witty tune and its creative lines! Although the obliviousness of Olaf is kind of sad at times, he's also a hilarious character to see in the movie!

These are just a few of the amazing songs Disney has created over the years! Be sure to check out these songs and more on this Spotify playlist!

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
