As old and beautiful as Milwaukee is, it's sometimes easy to overlook the older and more unique buildings that fill the skyline. As large tower's of glass stand out, one can't help but catch the glint of an old church tower, or hear the bells off in the distance. Better than just catching mesmerizing glimpses of these intricate facades is to see them up close and personal. It's not hard to find these beautiful buildings in Milwaukee, and here are some places to start.

8. Calvary Cemetery

The expansive cemetery is a maze that leads you to breathtaking headstones and gorgeous family mausoleums. Engineered by Archbishop John Martin Henni in 1857, one of the oldest buildings in Milwaukee Archdiocesan Catholic cemetery. Many of the headstones are a sight to see.

7. St Franics of Assi Cathedral

This gorgeous cathedral located in Milwaukee was built in 1877 and designed by the New York architect William Schickel. It’s Victorian-style and intricate design is a sight you have to see while in Milwaukee.

6. St. Josaphat Basilica

This is a castle-like building with beautiful designs decorating the interior. Angel’s with gold wings welcome those who enter as a palace of gold-lined marble and religious relicts adorn every inch of it’s walls.

5. Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church

Designed by the famous architect Franklin Lloyd Wright, this white and blue circular building is a one-of-a-kind church with a gold and blue interior and beautifully detailed blue stained glass. It’s worth the trip.

4. All Saint’s Cemetery

One of Milwaukee’s historic Catholic cemeteries, this sprawling land is filled with unique statues and relics. With beautifully designed mausoleums and buildings, it’s a trip to see something unique.

3. St Paul’s Episcopal Church

Founded in 1838 in downtown Milwaukee, the beautiful gothic architecture stands out against the urban Milwaukee skyline. The church has been known for their strong regard for music. After a fire had destroyed much of the church, it has been rebuilt, its main interior now called the “great gall”.

2. Cathedral Church of All Saints

The Cathedral looks as if it could be a grand mansion, with an exquisite landscape and looming entrance hall. The building was first constructed in 1868 as the Olivet Congregational Church, until the Olivet Congregation faced bankruptcy, the change of hands did nothing to alter the beauty of the outer façade and beautiful interior designs.

1.Trinity Lutheran Church

This black and white stone castle was built in 1979 by immigrants from Pomerania, Germany. With two massive towers on either side of the main hall and an intriguing red entrance door, this is a perfect church to see up close.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
